Mechanical Applications Engineer

SUMMARY: The Mechanical Applications Engineer bridges the gap between engineering, product development, and customer needs. The Applications Engineer will provide technical expertise, support, and solutions to ensure successful integration, application, and performance of our products in real-world environments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain deep understanding of UNEX product design and manufacturing processes.
• Serve as a technical liaison between the UNEX Sales and Engineering departments, distributors and end users.
• Provide application assistance, concept development and drawings for quoting of projects.
• Assist in product design modifications or customization to meet specific customer needs.
• Devoted to new product development, continuous improvement of current product line and the latest material handling technology, trends, and practices to ensure long term reliability and competitiveness.
• Develops, monitors and tracks project plans, budgets and resources to ensure new products and improvements are delivered in a timely manner.
• Effectively navigate through and manage data integrity in ERP/MRP systems.
• Participate in product launches, trade shows, and customer visits as a subject matter expert.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• EDUCATION – bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Industrial engineering from four-year college or university.
• EXPERIENCE – In lieu of a degree, 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ROLE SPECIFIC SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Fluent in SolidWorks, SolidWorks Simulation and AutoCAD. Knowledge of SolidWorks PDM is a plus.  
  • Understanding of blueprint layouts and tolerancing methods.
  • Technical writing skills for process documentation and proposal writing.
• LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, speaking Spanish is a plus.
• COMPUTER SKILLS – Proficient use of the following software programs
  • Microsoft Office - Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Planner.
  • SolidWorks – Standard, Simulation, PDM
  • AutoCAD
  • ERP/MRP software
