We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands. </span></p></div><p>Ursa Major is seeking a talented and driven Mechanical Engineer to support the manufacturing and assembly of subsystems, used in solid rocket motor manufacturing.</p>
<p>The ideal candidate will excel at delivering robust complex mechanical solutions to improve quality, efficiency, and safety across production. This role demands a strong ability to understand and generate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), employ finite element analysis (FEA), and maintain ownership through the entire lifecycle of projects from initial requirements to operational activation.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Design and Develop Support Systems related to the manufacturing of Solid Rocket Motors</li>
<li>Upgrade and Improve Existing Equipment</li>
<li>Lifecycle Project Ownership by leading project from initial requirement gathering through commissioning</li>
<li>Integration with Tooling and Lifting Devices</li>
<li>Component Selection and System Integration</li>
<li>Structural Analysis using FEA</li>
<li>Documentation & Work Instructions using SOPs and assembly processes</li>
<li>Cross-functional Collaboration various technical skillsets</li>
<li>Ensure Safety & Compliance standards are upheld</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.</li>
<li>5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or manufacturing environments.</li>
<li>Demonstrated proficiency in mechanical system design and hands-on fabrication or assembly.</li>
<li>Experience with P&ID creation and interpretation.</li>
<li>Strong capability in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using software such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar.</li>
<li>Proficiency with CAD software (Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or equivalent).</li>
<ul>
<li>Familiar with design, specification, and integration of pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical subsystems.</li>
<li>Proven ability to generate clear technical documentation, work instructions, and SOPs.</li>
<li>Self-starter with excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.</li>
<li>Experience managing projects through complete product lifecycles is highly preferred.<strong> </strong></li>
</ul>
</ul>
<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Prior experience with rocket propulsion or energetics manufacturing.</li>
<li>Knowledge of controls, automation, and instrumentation.</li>
<li>Familiarity with quality systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.</li>
</ul>
<p>Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $110,000 - $136,000, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
