As a fast-growing, impact-focused healthcare organization, Akido is building a modern medical network that combines compassionate care with AI-enabled workflows to create a more seamless experience for both patients and providers.</p> <h2>The Opportunity</h2> <p>We are seeking a highly adaptable and service-oriented Lead Medical Assistant to help launch and support Akido’s innovative outpatient primary care clinic in Rhode Island. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in supporting clinic operations from day one.</p> <p>Working closely with clinical leadership, the Lead MA will support both front-office and back-office workflows while helping coordinate new technology-enabled care pathways, including asynchronous and AI-supported patient routing workflows. This role goes beyond traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities, we are looking for someone who thrives in a startup environment, leads by example, and is excited to help shape the future of primary care delivery.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is clinically strong, highly organized, customer service-oriented, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a lean and rapidly growing clinic environment.</p> <h2>What You'll Do</h2> <ul> <li>Support day-to-day clinical and operational workflows within a lean outpatient primary care clinic</li> <li>Perform both front-office and back-office Medical Assistant responsibilities, including patient registration, insurance verification, eligibility checks, rooming, vital signs, discharge coordination, and referrals</li> <li>Help coordinate technology-enabled and asynchronous care workflows, including AI-supported patient routing processes</li> <li>Serve as an operational “air traffic controller” to help ensure patients receive the appropriate level of care efficiently</li> <li>Deliver a high-quality, professional, and compassionate patient experience</li> <li>Assist with maintaining clinic operations, organization, inventory management, and purchasing of supplies</li> <li>Help support clinic growth and operational excellence</li> <li>Take ownership across clinical, administrative, and operational responsibilities.</li> </ul> <h2>Required</h2> <ul> <li>High School graduate or equivalent. Completion of accredited certified medical assistant training program required.</li> <li>Medical Assistant Lead experience in an outpatient or primary care setting</li> <li>Current Medical Assistant certification required (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, or equivalent accredited certification)</li> <li>Current BLS/CPR certification required or ability to obtain prior to start date</li> <li>Experience supporting both front-office and back-office clinic operations</li> <li>Experience with insurance verification, referral coordination, and patient access workflows</li> <li>Willingness to roll up your sleeves and take ownership across clinic operations</li> <li>Comfortable working in a lean, startup-style setting with evolving workflows and responsibilities</li> <li>Ability to work onsite during standard business hours</li> <li>Strong customer service and patient communication skills</li> <li>Strong emotional intelligence, professionalism, and problem-solving skills.</li> </ul> <h3>Preferred</h3> <ul> <li>Experience as a Practice Coordinator, or Practice Manager</li> <li>Experience helping oversee daily clinic operations independently</li> <li>Startup or high-growth healthcare environment experience</li> <li>Bilingual in Spanish, Portuguese, or other languages preferred</li> <li>Interest in healthcare innovation, technology-enabled care, or AI-supported clinical operations.</li> </ul> <p></p><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">Hourly pay range</div><div class="pay-range"><span>$26</span><span class="divider">&mdash;</span><span>$28 USD</span></div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion"><p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Akido Labs, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer, and we encourage qualified applicants of every background, ability, and life experience to contact us about appropriate employment opportunities.</p></div>
