Leveraging advanced causal inference and machine learning, PhaseV detects hidden signals in clinical data and extracts actionable insights for planning optimal trials.</p> <p>Our proprietary ML-based platform powers four core product modules:</p> <ul> <li>Response Optimizer — uncovers patient response heterogeneity to identify optimal treatment populations</li> <li>Trial Optimizer — designs more efficient, adaptive clinical trials tailored to sponsor objectives</li> <li>Portfolio Optimizer — supports strategic portfolio-level decision-making across development programs</li> <li>Clin Ops Optimizer — streamlines clinical operations for faster, more precise trial execution</li> </ul> <p>Collaborating top pharmaceutical companies, as well as multiple CROs and biotechs, we are poised to make a significant impact on how drugs are developed and brought to market.</p> <p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p> <p>We are seeking a Medical Director to join our team in Boston to lead the clinical aspects of our data-driven approach to optimizing clinical trials. This is a high-impact, externally facing role that blends deep clinical expertise with business development, scientific communication, and product strategy. This role is based at our Cambridge, MA headquarters on a hybrid schedule (2–3 days/week in-office). We're open to candidates outside of Boston who are willing to travel to HQ on a regular monthly basis — we find that in-person time meaningfully accelerates collaboration.&nbsp;</p> <p>The Medical Director will serve as a key clinical voice across all four PhaseV product modules, supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders — from data scientists and engineers to pharma executives and KOLs. In the U.S. market specifically, this role will play a significant part in business development efforts, thought leadership, and marketing, including speaking engagements, conference representation, and content creation such as blog posts and white papers.&nbsp;</p> <p>The ideal candidate holds an M.D. with a strong interest in leveraging advanced statistical and machine learning methods to improve clinical trial design and execution.&nbsp;</p> <p>This role requires up to 25% travel, primarily for industry conferences, client meetings, and business development engagements.</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <p><strong>Clinical &amp; Scientific Leadership</strong></p> <ul> <li>Provide clinical oversight and interpretation for PhaseV’scausal ML-based models across all four product modules (Response Optimizer, Trial Optimizer, Portfolio Optimizer, Clin Ops Optimizer)</li> <li>Ensure the highest standard of clinical relevance and accuracy in data outputs, platform recommendations, and client deliverables</li> <li>Serve as a clinical expert in client-facing discussions, translating complex data science outputs into actionable medical insights</li> <li>Provide guidance to internal data science, engineering, and product teams on clinical concepts relevant to ongoing projects</li> </ul> <p><strong>Business Development Support</strong></p> <ul> <li>Collaborate closely with the business development team to communicate PhaseV’s clinical value proposition to pharma, biotech, and CRO partners</li> <li>Participate in client meetings, partnership discussions, and proposal development as a clinical subject matter expert</li> <li>Develop and refine presentation slides for BD meetings, pitches, and scientific discussions, translating platform capabilities and clinical evidence into compelling visual narratives</li> <li>Support contract and scope-of-work discussions where clinical expertise is critical to positioning PhaseV’s solutions</li> </ul> <p><strong>Thought Leadership &amp; Marketing (U.S.-focused)</strong></p> <ul> <li>Represent PhaseV at industry conferences, scientific symposia, and advisory boards as a speaker and clinical spokesperson</li> <li>Author or co-author blog posts, white papers, and scientific publications to build PhaseV’s external profile in the clinical trials and drug development community</li> <li>Contribute to marketing materials, case studies, and client-facing content that highlight clinical outcomes and platform value</li> </ul> <p><strong>New Product Development</strong></p> <ul> <li>Partner with the product and data science teams to inform the development of new platform capabilities and product modules</li> <li>Provide clinical feasibility input during early-stage product ideation and design</li> <li>Help define clinically meaningful use cases, endpoints, and success criteria for new offerings</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <p><strong>Required</strong></p> <ul> <li>M.D. degree&nbsp;</li> <li>Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable in both scientific, business development, and executive-level settings</li> <li>Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment</li> <li>Curiosity and willingness to engage with advanced biostatistics and causal machine learning (technical expertise not required)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience supporting or leading business development efforts</li> <li>Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or CRO environments</li> <li>Experience in health technology, AI in healthcare, or related fields</li> <li>Track record of thought leadership: publications, conference presentations, or industry writing</li> <li>Prior exposure to adaptive trial design, Bayesian methods, or AI/ML in clinical settings</li> <li>Working knowledge of clinical trial methodology and regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, GCP)</li> <li>Second advanced degree (Ph.D. or MBA) is a differentiator but not required</li> </ul> <p><strong>Compensation &amp;
