This internship provides hands-on, real-world experience within a professional sports organization. The Merchandise Intern will gain valuable insight into retail operations, fan engagement, and sports-based merchandise sales while learning how a Minor League Baseball team store operates on both game days and non-game days. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in communication, customer service, inventory management, and marketing collaboration. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.</div> <div> </div> <div>Qualifications</div> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">College sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students receiving academic credit in Sport Management, Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Availability to work event nights, weekends, and holidays as required</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and/or ability to quickly learn</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>General Responsibilities</div> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist with inventory management, pricing, and stocking merchandise</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist with fulfilling online merchandise orders</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support the marketing team with lifestyle photoshoots as needed</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist with social media content and promotional efforts</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Work the majority of Chesapeake Baysox home games and events as directed by the Merchandise Manager</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Gain experience in team store layout and visual merchandising to promote sales</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Learn merchandise purchasing strategies based on market trends, collection gaps, and inventory needs.</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Ability to lift 10-40 pounds (lbs.)</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Creating or participating in promotional and social media content</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Track basic online sales performance and identify opportunities to improve product mix and presentation</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Support promotional campaigns tied to player announcements, theme nights, and special events</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>Game Day Responsibilities</div> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist with the preparation of the merchandise store for game day</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Help operate the merchandise store during games as needed</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Restock merchandise throughout the game</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Assist with closing procedures after games.</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>What You’ll Gain:</div> <ul> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Hands-on experience in sports merchandise operations</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Leadership and customer service experience</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Resume-building experience with a Double A MiLB team</li> <li style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">A fun, high-energy game-day environment</li> </ul> <div> </div> </div> <hr>   Additional Information This is an unpaid internship opportunity designed to provide valuable hands-on experience.
