Mid/Senior .NET Developer - 1 year contract

We are seeking a talented and experienced .NET Developer to join our team for 1 year in Budapest. You will play a crucial role in shaping the backend architecture of our partner’s next-generation environmental monitoring platform. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a significant project, work with cutting-edge technologies, and have a real impact on our partner’s product's future. The ideal candidate is a freelancer.

Key Responsibilities 💻

• Participate in the replacement and continuous modernization of legacy systems using a cutting-edge tech stack;

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable back-end solutions with .NET 8/9 and ASP.NET Core;

• Work with MS SQL and Entity Framework Core to implement efficient and optimized data access strategies;

• Occasionally use SqlKata, Dapper, or other ORM/micro-ORM technologies;

• Collaborate with the team in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring junior developers;

• Ensure code quality through unit and integration testing (test coverage is improving but still maturing);

• Utilize Docker-based environments locally and work in cloud-first architecture (Azure);

• Participate in CI/CD pipeline maintenance using GitLab (cloud-based), as part of the development team's responsibilities;

• Rarely, but potentially work with legacy UI technologies like Windows Forms or WPF;

• Keep up-to-date with the latest .NET ecosystem updates — the tech stack is refreshed yearly.

What will you need 💪

• 4+ years of experience as a Back-End Developer working with .NET technologies (preferably medior-senior level);

• Deep knowledge of .NET 8/9, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework Core;

• Strong experience with relational databases, particularly MS SQL;

• Familiarity with SqlKata, Dapper, or other data access frameworks is a plus;

• Knowledge of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes) is highly advantageous, even if not used in production by developers;

• Experience with Azure cloud services is a plus;

• Comfortable with working in and contributing to CI/CD pipelines (GitLab);

• Hybrid work model requiring 2-3 days of on-site presence in our Budapest office;

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
