About the role

Artifex Interior Systems is pleased to confirm the below opportunity within our business:

Mold Flow Engineer – temporary contract

As a Mold Flow Engineer at Artifex Interior Systems, you will deliver Moldflow simulation in support of plastic injection-moulded component and tooling design across the product lifecycle.

The role supports simulation-led decision-making from early concept through to approved off-tool parts, contributing to reduced tooling risk, improved quality and robust industrialisation outcomes.

• Perform Moldflow simulations (Fill, Pack, Warp, Cooling and Fibre Orientation) to support component and tooling design.

• Create high-quality meshed models using appropriate mesh technologies and refinement strategies to maximise simulation accuracy.

• Build representative Moldflow models incorporating cooling channels, inserts, feed systems, injection pressure profiles and other tool-specific data where required.

• Analyse Mold Flow results and provide clear, actionable engineering guidance to design, tooling and production teams.

• Identify moulding and tooling risks using Mold Flow analysis, including ‘what-if’ and sensitivity studies, and define mitigation actions.

• Act as a technical resource for colleagues by supporting understanding and effective use of Mold Flow outputs.

• Optimise gating strategies, runner layouts, cooling circuits, cycle times and overall tool performance using simulation.

• Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews for new and existing plastic components.

• Collaborate with tooling engineers on mould design, venting strategy, material selection and processing parameters.

• Liaise with engineering and design teams, attending design reviews to advise on Mold Flow analysis requirements throughout development phases.

• Produce technical reports and presentation material to communicate analysis results to internal stakeholders and, where required, customers.

• Participate in tooling GA reviews and mould trials, collecting process data to correlate simulation predictions with actual tool performance.

• Support root-cause analysis of moulding defects using Mold Flow outputs and in-plant validation data.

• Develop and maintain Moldflow best practices, libraries, templates and workflows to drive continuous improvement.

• Manage multiple Mold Flow activities in parallel, ensuring timely delivery aligned to programme milestones.

• Work with suppliers, toolmakers and moulding partners to validate simulation assumptions and align on technical standards.

• Proven experience performing Moldflow simulation for injection-moulded plastic components.

• Ability to create fully meshed part and tool models, including complex tool features where required.

• Solid understanding of plastic component design, mould tool design and injection-moulding processes.

• Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, fibre-filled materials, shrinkage modelling and warpage control.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex Mold Flow results to non-specialist audiences.

• Ability to manage multiple simulation tasks and work collaboratively within cross-functional engineering teams.

• Experience working with toolmakers or injection-moulding suppliers.

Desirable

• Experience correlating simulation outputs with mould trial results.

• Familiarity with DOE methods, optimisation studies or additional CAE tools.

• Strong proficiency in Autodesk Moldflow Insight

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical, Plastics, Manufacturing or Materials Engineering.

• Knowledge of GD&T, DFM, DFA or tolerance analysis.

Note: this is not an exhaustive list. All employees are expected to show flexibility and continued self-development to meet the ever-changing needs of the business. All job descriptions / vacancy notices will be subject to continual development.

Internal closing date: Tuesday, 28th April 2026. Please note if you apply after this date that you may still be progressed, but depending on the volume of applications we are unable to guarantee the ability to accommodate.
