Neuro Hospitalist (MD/DO)

Position Summary

The Neuro Hospitalist provides comprehensive inpatient neurological care to hospitalized patients with acute and complex neurologic conditions. This role focuses on rapid evaluation, diagnosis, and management of neurological emergencies and inpatient consultative services while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary hospital teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage hospitalized patients with acute neurological conditions, including stroke, seizures, encephalopathy, neuromuscular disorders, and neurocritical care conditions
  • Provide inpatient neurology consultations and daily rounding
  • Manage acute ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke patients, including thrombolytic and post-intervention care
  • Interpret neuroimaging, EEGs, and other diagnostic studies
  • Collaborate with emergency medicine, hospital medicine, neurosurgery, neurocritical care, and rehabilitation teams
  • Participate in stroke alerts, rapid response teams, and inpatient neurology call coverage
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, stroke certification activities, and peer review
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Completion of an accredited Neurology residency program
  • Board eligible or board certified in Neurology
  • Fellowship training in vascular neurology or neurocritical care preferred but not required
  • Active or eligible state medical license
  • DEA registration or eligibility
