<p><strong>WHO WE ARE:</strong></p> <p>Headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan since 1955, Lumbermen’s operates in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Minnesota. &nbsp;A leading distributor and manufacturer, we are driven by our mission to enrich lives by intentionally caring for all who experience us. &nbsp;We are <strong>employee owned</strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>relationship powered</strong>.</p> <p>3rd Shift, Sunday 7PM start, Monday - Thursday 8PM start.</p> <p><strong>POSITION SUMMARY</strong></p> <p>Located at our Byron Center, MI location, the person in this position would assist with receipt, transfer, and storage of incoming freight, as well as inspect and report orders for shipments in our Building Materials division. &nbsp; Day-to-day responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Promoting a safe work environment for all employee owners</li> <li>Modeling Lumbermen’s core values</li> <li>Communicating route changes with&nbsp;Drivers and Transportation Supervisor</li> <li>Inspect each transfer truck to ensure if something doesn’t ship document ‘why’ and safely loaded within legal limits</li> <li>Under ship report - document what didn’t ship that night and the root cause</li> <li>Document invalid cart tags</li> <li>Photos of all A-frames shipping</li> <li>Unloading incoming transfer trucks</li> <li>Identify ways to combine/maximize routes</li> <li>Leading and making improvements to housekeeping standards and continuous improvement initiatives</li> <li>Training, motivating, and coaching employee owners</li> <li>Maintaining a working knowledge of warehouse operations</li> <li>Approaching work each day with a positive attitude</li> <li>Treating Employee Owners in a professional manner</li> <li>Having a “customer first” mindset and mentality</li> <li>Ensuring that the work area is clean and organized</li> <li>Assisting with other tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the operation</li> </ul> <p>At Lumbermen’s, we pride ourselves on treating our customers like family and delivering exceptional service. &nbsp;It’s crucial that the person selected to fill this role is highly organized and detail-oriented, service-minded, a strong and friendly communicator, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.&nbsp;</p> <p>This position offers a $300 annual clothing allowance to offset costs for work apparel, protective footwear, and PPE.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>High School diploma/GED required</li> <li>Prior warehouse experience</li> <li>Fork lift experience, training experience preferred</li> <li>Move tractor/trailer in the yard, CDL A preferred not required</li> </ul> <p><strong>REQUIRED SKILLS</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Ability to learn various computer programs</li> <li>Ability to problem solve for logistics&nbsp;</li> <li>Strong communication skills</li> <li>Safe working practices</li> <li>Natural detail-orientation</li> <li>Ability to accurately pull orders and load/unload trucks.</li> </ul> <p><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <ul type="disc"> <li>Ability to do physical labor including lifting of up to 75lbs</li> <li>Ability to strap/unstrap loads</li> <li>Ability to open/close curtains</li> <li>Ability to climb in/out of trailers</li> </ul> <p><strong>WHAT WE OFFER:</strong></p> <p>Lumbermen’s exists to enrich the lives of people by intentionally caring for all who experience us. &nbsp;You will experience a different kind of work environment and “family” here and help live out the Lumbermen’s promises of&nbsp;<em>committing to those who count on us</em>,&nbsp;<em>doing what’s right</em>,&nbsp;<em>exercising sound business practices</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>earning consideration</em>.
