Position Overview

YKPS is seeking motivated, hardworking, and safety-focused Pad Builders to support exploration and construction projects throughout remote Alaska. This position offers the opportunity to work on meaningful projects while experiencing the challenge, camaraderie, and adventure that come with living and working in the Alaska wilderness. Pad Builders perform a variety of construction, fabrication, and labor-intensive tasks, including material handling, site preparation, pad construction, and general project support. Work is often performed in mountainous terrain, remote locations, and variable weather conditions, requiring adaptability, resilience, and a strong commitment to safety. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, detail-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors in demanding environments. Candidates should be capable of following plans, procedures, and direction from supervisors while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and professionalism. Minimum Requirements
- Ability to use and accurately read a standard tape measure
- 2 years Construction or fabrication experience
- Material handling and/or general physical labor experience
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and shop drawings
- Residency in the state of Alaska
Preferred Qualifications
- Mountain hazard awareness and risk assessment skills; comfortable working in mountainous terrain
- Strong foundation in residential or commercial construction
- Previous experience working in and around helicopters
- Ability to lift and carry 35–50 lbs repeatedly
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and safety procedures
- Experience using chainsaws, power tools, and/or welding equipment
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work performed outdoors in remote and potentially rugged conditions
- Exposure to varying weather and terrain
- Physically demanding role requiring lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods
