The Payroll &amp; Benefits Specialist will operate as the subject matter expert regarding benefits administration and current payroll best practices, bringing forth recommendations for process improvements and creating efficiencies. The individual will also be responsible for managing the Time and Attendance system.</span></div> <p><strong><span data-contrast="auto">What you'll do</span></strong><span data-ccp-props="{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}">&nbsp;</span></p> <p>1. Payroll</p> <ul> <li>Processes Payroll for both union and non-union employees comprising of hourly, salaried and commissioned employees.</li> <li>Investigates and resolves complex pay and system issues as they arise.</li> <li>Prepares and submit records of employment.</li> <li>Collaborates with cross functional departments to ensure employee records, vacation accruals etc. are accurate and up to date.</li> <li>Conducts the quarterly vacation accrual and reconciliation process.</li> </ul> <p>2. Benefits</p> <ul> <li>Process executive benefits such as share options, Car taxable, Directors fees for both Canadian and out-of-country executives and directors.</li> <li>Coordination, administration and execution of all benefits related activities.</li> <li>Coordinates annual benefits renewal &amp; re-enrollment processes.</li> <li>Responsible for the administration of the Pension and RRSP Plan.</li> <li>Manages the monthly budget accrual process for the Payroll Benefits Budget.</li> </ul> <p>3. Systems</p> <ul> <li>Maintain the HRIS by entering employee personal and employment information.</li> <li>Setup and maintain employee records in Time &amp; Attendance.</li> <li>Setup and maintain schedules, holiday programs, and benefit accruals in Time &amp; Attendance.</li> <li>Manage Time &amp; Attendance reporting, hours import to payroll and timecard exceptions.</li> <li>Conducts training on the Time &amp; Attendance system for new employees and operates as the Subject Matter Expert on the system.</li> </ul> <p>4. Administration / Customer Service</p> <ul> <li>Reconciles and remit third party remittances such as WSIB, union dues, pension/RRSP and benefit premiums.</li> <li>Maintains a process throughout the course of the year to ensure smooth Year-End filing.</li> <li>Maintains detailed records and documentation in accordance with statutory requirements.</li> <li>Performs routine audits on payroll, benefits and time and attendance output to ensure compliance and accuracy.</li> <li>Responds to and effectively resolves employee inquiries in a timely manner.</li> <li>Prepares communications and letters to employees regarding payroll and benefits related matters.</li> <li>Continuously keeps abreast on payroll &amp; benefits best practices.</li> <li>Leads projects as assigned by the Senior Manager, Payroll &amp; Benefits.</li> </ul> <p><strong><span data-ccp-props="{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}">What you'll bring</span></strong></p> <ul> <li>Degree/Diploma in related field or equivalent experience.</li> <li>CPA Certification is an asset.</li> <li>5+ years working within Payroll and Benefits; utilizing ADP/Pay@Work and EZ Labour.</li> <li>Solid background working with Pay and Time &amp; Attendance Systems.</li> <li>Solid understanding of Year End processes.</li> <li>Working knowledge of Employment Standards across provinces.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Soft Skills</strong></p> <ul> <li>Intermediate to advanced level Excel skill.</li> <li>Strong report writing ability.</li> <li>Strong capability navigating within information systems.</li> <li>Ability to problem solve and recommend solutions.</li> <li>Strong organizational skills.</li> <li>Action oriented; sense of urgency.</li> <li>Ability to handle multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner.</li> <li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li> <li>Strong customer focus</li> </ul> <p><strong><span data-ccp-props="{&quot;335559738&quot;:240,&quot;335559739&quot;:240}">What's in it for you</span></strong></p> <p><span data-contrast="auto">We understand that there is life at work and life outside of work. The final offer may vary and can be higher based on relevant skills, experience, location, and market conditions.
