For this role you will need to possess a strong background in building advanced perception models, state estimation, object tracking, and sensor fusion for use in autonomous systems. United States veteran and diverse candidates are encouraged to apply at any experience level.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Develop and optimize computer vision and machine learning algorithms for object detection, classification, tracking, and scene understanding in varied and dynamic environments</li> <li>Utilize data from a variety of sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, and radar, to create comprehensive perception systems</li> <li>Implementation and evaluation of calibration procedures, particularly with stereo and sensor fusion scenarios</li> <li>Conduct extensive testing and validation of perception systems; document and troubleshoot issues as they arise&nbsp;</li> <li>Collaborate with hardware engineers to calibrate sensors and integrate perception capabilities into broader autonomous systems</li> <li>Collaborate with other software engineers to deploy perception models in both prototyping and production environments&nbsp;</li> <li>Support the team during the proposal phase, by aiding the specification and selection of appropriate sensors and compute needs for each application.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:</strong></p> <p><strong>Must haves:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on computer vision or machine learning</li> <li>Proficient in programming languages and tools commonly used in perception systems development (Python, C++, OpenCV, etc.)&nbsp; and experience with relevant AI and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.)&nbsp;</li> <li>3+ years of professional experience building perception systems that incorporate camera, LiDAR, and radar data&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Nice to have:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience designing and developing computer vision, machine learning, and sensor fusion for autonomous systems</li> <li>Experience with procedural 3D modeling and photorealistic rendering</li> <li>Experience deploying machine learning models on embedded platforms, such as NVIDIA Jetson or Hailo TPUs, is<em> highly preferred&nbsp;</em></li> </ul> <p><strong>Job Type:</strong> Full-time&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Benefits:&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>401(k)</li> <li>5% Safe Harbor Contribution to 401k by Hellbender</li> <li>Dental insurance, 100% by Hellbender for employees and their families</li> <li>Health insurance, 100% by Hellbender for employees and their families</li> <li>Vision insurance, 100% by Hellbender for employees and their families</li> <li>7.5 weeks total Paid time off</li> <li>Flexible spending account</li> <li>Hellbender Inc. options through our Equity Incentive Plan</li> <li>Profit Sharing (through 401k)</li> <li>Hybrid work environment &amp; flexible work schedule&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Work Location: </strong>UPARC Pittsburgh</p> <p><strong>Opportunity for advancement:&nbsp;</strong></p> <p>Hellbender is a growing business and follows a policy that prioritizes internal promotions.
