We are guided by the following set of values and behaviors–optimism, integrity, excellence, inclusion, co-creation and boldness–and look forward to hearing about how your past experiences align with them. <h3>Senior Associate, Permitting</h3> The Senior Associate, Permitting will play a critical role in the planning, coordination, and execution of permitting activities required for the successful delivery of Olympic and Paralympic venues and related infrastructure for the LA28 Games. This position will support the acquisition, management, and compliance of permits, approvals, licenses, and regulatory requirements across temporary and permanent venues, operational sites, and overlay construction.   Reporting to the Manager, Permitting within Venue Infrastructure, the Senior Associate will collaborate closely with internal functional areas, public agencies, consultants, architects, engineers, contractors, and government stakeholders to ensure all permitting milestones are achieved on schedule and in compliance with applicable regulations.  The ideal candidate is a highly organized project professional with strong knowledge of California permitting processes, municipal approvals, building and safety regulations, environmental compliance, and large-scale event or construction delivery.  <h3>Key Responsibilities:</h3> Permitting Execution & Management  <ul> <li>Support the management of the permitting process for Olympic and Paralympic venues, temporary structures, overlay installations, and operational facilities</li> <li>Oversee comprehensive permitting schedules aligned with construction, operational readiness, and Games-time milestones</li> <li>Identify and track required permits and approvals across city, county, state, and federal jurisdictions</li> <li>Manage the tracking of permit statuses, submission deadlines, approvals, inspections, renewals, and close-out requirements</li> <li>Maintain permitting workflows, reporting systems, and document control processes</li> </ul> Agency Coordination  <ul> <li>Act as a key liaison with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), including:  <ul> <li>Building & Safety Departments </li> <li>Fire Departments </li> <li>Planning & Zoning Agencies </li> <li>Public Works & Engineering </li> <li>Transportation Agencies </li> <li>Environmental and Coastal Agencies </li> <li>State and Federal Regulatory Bodies </li> </ul> </li> <li>Coordinate and track permit reviews, inspections, plan checks, and regulatory meetings</li> <li>Assist in facilitating issue resolution between agencies, contractors, consultants, and project teams</li> </ul> Cross-Functional Collaboration  <ul> <li>Partner with City Operations, Security, Transportation, Energy, Legal, Government Relations, Sustainability and other functional areas to align permitting requirements with operational needs</li> <li>Support venue planning and design reviews and constructability assessments</li> <li>Coordinate with third-party consultants, architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure permit-ready documentation</li> </ul> Project Controls & Reporting  <ul> <li>Maintain detailed permit logs, dashboards, and schedules</li> <li>Prepare status reports for leadership and stakeholders</li> <li>Monitor permitting budgets, consultant scopes, and associated agency fees</li> <li>Help identify and report critical path permitting risks</li> </ul> <h3>Background & Requirements:</h3> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field </li> <li>4+years of experience in permitting, planning, construction management, infrastructure delivery, or regulatory compliance</li> <li>Experience with permits for large-scale construction, sports venues, entertainment events, or public events</li> <li>Understanding of California permitting processes and regulatory frameworks</li> <li>Experience working with government agencies and AHJs</li> <li>Excellent project management and organizational skills</li> <li>Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities</li> <li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment</li> <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, SharePoint, Bluebeam, and project management software</li> </ul> <h3>Expectations:</h3> <ul> <li>Experience with large special events, stadiums, or entertainment venues </li> <li>Knowledge of temporary event structures and operational permitting</li> <li>Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, ADA, and public assembly requirements</li> <li>Familiarity with the California Building Code preferred</li> <li>PMP certification or related project management credentials is a plus</li> <li>Existing relationships with Southern California regulatory agencies is a plus</li> </ul> Construction Management, Urban Planning, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field</li> </ul> <h3>Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:</h3> <ul> <li>Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office</li> <li>The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.</li> <li>The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.</li> <li>Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.</li> <li>Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games</li> </ul> The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000.00 - $95,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
