<h3>Job Summary:</h3>
<p><strong>This is an exciting role in an innovative, high-growth defense technology company</strong>. The Physical Security Specialist supports the company’s Industrial Security Program and physical security operations in accordance with the NISPOM, DCSA requirements, and government contract obligations. This role manages day-to-day physical security functions, oversees guard services, safeguards classified materials, administers visitor and access systems, assists with personnel security, and serves as the designated backup for the FSO and Personnel Security Lead. The position also contributes to the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and task management workflows.</p>

<h2><strong> </strong></h2>
<h2><strong>Responsibilities: </strong></h2>
<p><strong>Physical Security Operations</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Manage day‑to‑day physical security operations for defense facilities, including oversight of guard services and compliance with post orders and contractual requirements.</li>
<li>Administer visitor management and screening processes, including Envoy and Visual Compliance checks for all applicable visitors and contractors.</li>
<li>Monitor and maintain physical security systems such as access control, CCTV, alarms, and coordinate required maintenance or upgrades.</li>
<li>Conduct routine inspections of classified containers, restricted areas, and access control points to ensure NISPOM safeguarding compliance.</li>
<li>Manage and track physical security service requests and incident reports, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.</li>
<li>Support personnel and industrial security functions including clearance processing, briefings, DISS case actions, and classified material accountability.</li>
<li>Assist the FSO with NISPOM‑mandated duties, facility compliance activities, audits, internal assessments, and corrective action plans.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Policy & SOP Development</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Draft, revise, and maintain security policies, SOPs, work instructions, and emergency procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.</li>
<li>Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure documentation reflects current practices and compliance standards.</li>
<li>Maintain version control and ensure all security documentation remains current, accurate, and accessible.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>JIRA Task & Workflow Management</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Utilize JIRA to track and manage security‑related tasks, service requests, and action items.</li>
<li>Monitor JIRA workflows to ensure assignments are updated, progressed, and closed on time.</li>
<li>Collaborate across teams using structured JIRA dashboards and categories to enhance visibility, accountability, and process consistency.</li>
</ul>
<h2><strong> </strong></h2>
<h2><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></h2>
<ul>
<li>Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial security, physical security, or facility security, within a defense contractor or similarly regulated environment.</li>
<li>Strong knowledge of the NISPOM, DCSA requirements, 32 CFR Part 117, Department of Defense policies, and security instructions related to special access program security and cybersecurity.</li>
<li>Experience working with access control systems, CCTV platforms, intrusion detection systems, and visitor management tools.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to draft, revise, and maintain security SOPs, policies, and compliance documentation.</li>
<li>Familiarity with JIRA or similar task‑tracking and workflow management tools.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage sensitive information, prioritize tasks, and operate independently with minimal supervision.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with government partners.</li>
<li>Current, in‑scope U.S. Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility, or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.</li>
<li>Willingness to travel up to 25% based on program or operational needs.</li>
</ul>
<h2><strong> </strong></h2>
<h2><strong>Preferred Skills and Experience:</strong></h2>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience as an AFSO, FSO, Physical Security Manager, ACPSO, or CPSO.</li>
<li>Completion of the FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities curriculum (or ability to complete within six months).</li>
<li>Ability to thrive in a fast paced, rapidly evolving startup environment while maintaining‑ <strong>Speed with Discipline</strong>, and demonstrating <strong>Accountability, Respect, and Commitment</strong> in daily work.</li>
<li>COMSEC experience.</li>
<li>Familiarity with Envoy Visitor Management System.</li>
<li>Experience with DCSA Assessment & Authorization processes.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>ITAR REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p>
<p>To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. </p>

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. </em></div><div class="title">For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is: </div><div class="pay-range"><span>$100,100</span><span class="divider">—</span><span>$115,600 USD</span></div></div></div>
