This position is an in-person, on campus faculty position.
Under minimal supervision, the Plumbing Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in plumbing technology across a variety of instructional formats and locations. The instructor will support student learning and success while developing and maintaining curriculum aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.
Instructional emphasis includes residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems; pipe installation and design; water supply and distribution; drainage, waste, and vent (DWV) systems; plumbing codes, blueprint reading; and troubleshooting and repair techniques. This instructor will also integrate safety standards, sustainability practices, and relevant technologies used in plumbing trade.
The instructor must be able to read and interpret technical documents such as safety regulations, building codes, blueprints, and installation manuals. Responsibilities include documenting student progress, maintaining accurate records, and utilizing instructional technologies and tools relevant to the trade.
Additionally, the instructor will collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure a high-quality educational experience for a diverse student population while adhering to the College’s mission, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
Education: Requires an associate’s degree in Plumbing Technology, Construction Technology, or a closely related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A combination of licensure and/or certification in conjunction with work experience may be considered in the absence of a college degree.
Must hold (or be willing to obtain) Journeyman or Master Plumber License; OSHA certification, and other industry certifications preferred.
Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in plumbing installation, maintenance and repair. Experience in residential and/or commercial plumbing systems preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, piping materials, and installation techniques.
- Ability to read and apply plumbing codes, blueprints, and schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems, including water, drainage, and gas systems.
- Knowledge of safety practices, tools, and equipment used in the plumbing trade.
- Ability to effectively communicate technical information verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use instructional technologies.
- Commitment to student success and inclusive teaching practices.
Special Instructions to Applicant: Applicants selected for an interview will be expected to provide a 10–15-minute teaching presentation on installation of a plumbing fixture (kitchen, sink, toilet, shower-candidate's choice) to the search committee (students).
