Pool Staff

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB: Under general supervision, ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the safety of all users of the pool and surrounding area through surveillance and enforcement of safety protocols. OTHER DUTIES: - Recognize and respond appropriately in an emergency to secure the safety of patrons. - Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. - Assist in the check-in process. - Perform pool chemistry readings and maintain chemistry log book. - Perform various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. - Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned to support Natatorium activities/operations. MINIMUM JOB REQUIRENENTS: - Currently enrolled full-time UDC student (12 credit hours for Fall and/or Spring semester) - Maintain a 2.0 cumulative & semester GPA. - Ability to interact effectively with University stake holders and community members. REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: - Complete prerequisite swim skill evaluation. 1) a 200 yard continuous swim 2) tread water legs only 2 minutes 3) swim 20 yards, surface dive, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim back to starting point - Demonstrate the knowledge and skill competencies needed to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies and provide resuscitative and first-aid care. - Demonstrate ability to perform proper rescue skills and CPR/First-Aid/AED applications. STANDARDS & EXPECTATIONS: All student workers are expected to arrive on time for their shifts. Vigilance, professionalism and good customer service are similarly expected through the entirety of the shift.
