PostgreSQL Database Engineer

<p><strong>Overview:</strong></p> <p>Guidepoint is an enterprise software organization embarking on a modernization strategy from a legacy monolith to a cloud-native, Kubernetes-based environment. With multiple product and platform teams delivering reusable services across the enterprise, We are seeking a highly experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator and Architect to design, operate, and evolve PostgreSQL platforms that support cloud-native, microservices-based applications. This role is critical to ensuring our data layer is scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with Kubernetes-driven architectures.</p> <p>You will work closely with platform engineering, DevOps, SRE, and application teams to design PostgreSQL architectures that seamlessly support containerized workloads, distributed systems, and high-throughput microservices. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep PostgreSQL expertise combined with modern cloud and Kubernetes experience. This role is essential for driving modernization, reducing duplication, accelerating delivery, and building a cohesive, future-ready enterprise architecture.</p> <p><strong>This position is a hybrid/Remote out of our Pune office.</strong></p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Design, deploy, and operate PostgreSQL platforms for microservices in Kubernetes environments, ensuring scalability and resilience</li> <li>Architect and manage Azure PostgreSQL (Flexible Server &amp; Hyperscale/Citus) for high availability, disaster recovery, and global scale</li> <li>Lead performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning across database and infrastructure layers</li> <li>Drive cloud migration and modernization from legacy/on-prem systems to cloud-native PostgreSQL</li> <li>Partner with engineering teams to enable CI/CD, automation, and zero-downtime deployments</li> <li>Implement security, compliance, backup, and disaster recovery strategies</li> <li>Define database design patterns for microservices, including distributed and event-driven architectures</li> <li>Build automation using IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep) and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)</li> <li>Establish monitoring/observability, define best practices, and mentor teams as a senior technical leader</li> </ul> <p><strong>Required Technical Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>8+ years in software architecture, cloud engineering, or platform engineering.</li> <li>Strong expertise in:&nbsp;</li> <li>Domain-driven design (DDD) and domain decomposition</li> <li>Cloud-native design principles and modernization strategies</li> <li>Event-driven design, messaging platforms (Kafka, Azure Service Bus)</li> <li>Cloud-native patterns such as CQRS, Saga, Event Sourcing, Circuit Breakers</li> <li>Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages with the ability to assess current application structures and determine appropriate modernization approaches.</li> <li>Experience with authentication and identity, including Auth0, OIDC, OAuth2, and SSO.</li> <li>Experience in API architecture, including REST, GraphQL, and gateways, is required.</li> <li>Experience using AI-powered tooling to support PostgreSQL administration, troubleshooting, and operational efficiency.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desired Technical Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Kubernetes, Containers, service mesh, ingress/egress patterns&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> <li>Microservices and distributed systems&nbsp;</li> <li>Ci/CD pipelines, Helm charts, GitOps and modern DevOps tooling</li> </ul> <p><strong>What We Offer:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Competitive compensation</li> <li>Employee medical coverage</li> <li>Central office location</li> <li>Entrepreneurial environment, autonomy, and fast decisions</li> <li>Casual work environment</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Guidepoint:</strong></p> <p>Guidepoint is a leading research enablement platform designed to advance understanding and empower our clients’ decision-making process.
