About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture design, control strategy development, and algorithm design of real-time control systems for complex semiconductor manufacturing equipment, ensuring the achievement of critical performance targets, including precision, stability, robustness, throughput, and real-time responsiveness.
  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain motion-controller software, machine-control applications, and related automation systems.
  • Develop high-precision motion-control solutions for advanced semiconductor equipment, including nanometer-level positioning, synchronised multi-axis control, trajectory planning, and precision motion optimisation.
  • Design and implement machine control strategies, state machines, process control logic, and automation algorithms to manage equipment operation and process execution.
  • Conduct system modelling, simulation, identification, and performance analysis to optimise overall equipment performance.
  • Lead the development and optimisation of servo control algorithms, motion planning algorithms, and advanced control methodologies for high-performance automation systems.
  • Analyse and resolve complex system issues encountered during machine integration, commissioning, validation, and production deployment.
  • Drive system optimisation initiatives, including vibration suppression, jitter reduction, disturbance rejection, dynamic compensation, and electromechanical coupling optimisation.
  • Perform dynamics analysis of complex equipment systems, including modal analysis, vibration transfer path analysis, structural dynamics assessment, and vibration damping optimisation.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams across software, electrical, mechanical, systems, and process engineering functions to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on motion control technologies, contributing to technology roadmaps and next-generation product development initiatives.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Master's degree or above in Automation, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in motion control development within the semiconductor equipment industry.
  • Proven experience developing motion control systems for high-precision semiconductor manufacturing equipment, such as hybrid bonding, wafer bonding, advanced packaging, lithography, inspection, metrology, or related automation platforms.
  • Strong expertise in real-time control system architecture, motion control software development, and advanced control algorithm design.
  • Deep understanding of precision motion control principles, servo systems, and high-performance automation technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical vibration theory, vibration testing methodologies, and dynamic system analysis.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex machine dynamics simulations, including modal analysis, vibration transfer path analysis, structural dynamics modelling, and vibration suppression optimisation.
  • Extensive experience with servo motor control algorithms, motion control tuning methodologies, and closed-loop control system optimisation.
  • Demonstrated expertise in electromechanical system modelling, simulation, performance prediction, and optimisation of coupled mechanical and motor systems.
  • Experience with high-precision positioning systems, synchronised multi-axis motion control, macro-micro motion platforms, or nanometer-level positioning applications.
  • Proficiency with engineering simulation and modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, ADAMS, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex multidisciplinary engineering challenges.
