About the role

Rise Women’s Legal Centre (Rise) is a community legal centre providing accessible legal services that are responsive to the unique needs of self-identifying women and gender diverse persons, primarily in the area of family law in British Columbia. In addition to serving clients, we are a knowledge based and knowledge generating organization and work collaboratively with organizations around the province.

 

Rise’s work is guided by three focus areas – learning, helping and systems change, through which the organization provides direct support to clients, learning opportunities for students, family law advocates, support workers, and lawyers, and works on systemic change through research and education.


Job Title:                        Program Assistant (Family Advocate Support Team)

 

Terms:                         Full time (37.5 hours per week), temporary for 1 year

 

Salary Range:             $62,000 to $67,800 per annum plus benefits

 

Start Date:                      As soon as possible

 

End Date:                    June 30, 2027

 

Location:                     Hybrid

About the Position


The Program Assistant for the Family Advocate Support Team undertake a variety of duties to support Rise Women’s Legal Centre’s family advocate support services. The duties include managing client appointments, data entry and retrieval for reporting purposes, and assisting with evaluation.

 

The program assistant also helps support Rise’s relationships with family advocates and other anti-violence and legal organizations through outreach, scheduling meetings and training sessions and supporting the development of webinars, e-courses and other training content.

 

Responsibilities


  • Assists with conducting outreach to family law advocates and other community organisations.
  • Schedules and supports virtual training sessions and meetings with advocates and community organizations including booking sessions, sending reminders, tech trouble shooting, and keeping minutes.
  • Helps to prepare, record, and edit webinars, and to maintain on-demand video offerings.
  • Helps to prepare, edit and format promotional materials, presentations, manuals, and information guides.

 

  • Support the Family Advocacy Team with file management including:
    • Conflict checks
    • Entering client data into Rise practice management systems
    • Organizing files within the server
    • Reviewing files for completeness and updating where necessary
    • Ensuring that files have been closed properly.
  • Creates and administers surveys for advocates and community organizing.
  • Assists with extracting data from programs for evaluation and reporting purposes.


Working Conditions

  • Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week (inclusive of 2.5 hours of unpaid break)
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Physical aspects: sitting for extended periods of time
  • Psychological aspects: communicating with team members, organization of work related to providing legal services, collaborating with partners and stakeholders, incorporating a trauma-informed approach with clients.

Experience:

  • Experience in non-profit setting with women and gender-diverse people (asset)
  • Experience in family law and complementary areas (asset)


Knowledge:

  • Legal resources in BC (asset)
  • Diligent record-keeping and note-taking
  • Computer proficiency
  • Utilizing legal case management and reporting software (asset)


Competencies:

Basic understanding of MS Office Suite, Clio, and other office software, Organization, Detail Orientation, Multitasking, Prioritization, Relationship Building, Communication, Teamwork, Emotional Intelligence, Collaboration, Cultural Humility, Trauma-Informed approach (asset); Anti-oppression, Verbal communication in various languages (asset)
