About the role
A fast-growing international renewable energy platform is expanding its European footprint and entering the German market, the largest electricity market in Europe. Building on a strong track record in large-scale battery energy storage, the company is progressively combining storage solutions with clean power generation assets.
As **Senior Project Development Manager**, reporting directly to the **Managing Partner Germany**, you will join an entrepreneurial team at the forefront of the energy transition. You will play a key role in the company’s market entry and long-term growth in Germany, working across both greenfield development and M&A opportunities.
Tasks
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and expand the existing German project pipeline; identify new project opportunities and secure grid connections, sites, and related development activities for BESS, wind, solar, and hybrid assets
- Establish and manage development partnerships and relationships with local stakeholders, including utilities, grid operators, municipalities, and landowners
- Lead energy project development activities from interconnection and permitting through to ready-to-build status and start of construction
- Manage project business cases and support financial modelling and procurement activities
- Support project financing discussions and negotiations
- Manage tender processes and evaluate M&A opportunities
- Contribute to the German market strategy and help identify future clean power opportunities in a fast-evolving regulatory and market environment
Requirements
Candidate Profile
- 5–10 years’ experience developing large-scale renewable energy projects, ideally within a renewable energy developer, IPP, or grid operator environment; BESS experience is a strong advantage
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in an agile, collaborative, and results-driven culture
- Master’s degree in engineering or business administration; specialisation in renewable energy, environment, or project management is a plus
- Hands-on experience with German permitting and planning processes for infrastructure projects, preferably renewable energy and/or battery storage
- Proven track record managing grid interconnection processes with German TSOs/DSOs, including connection requests and technical requirements
- Reliable, structured, and solution-oriented with a positive attitude
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted relationships with landowners, authorities, partners, grid operators, off-takers, and lenders
- High integrity, sound judgement, and a strong personal drive to deliver clean energy infrastructure
- Self-starter comfortable operating in complex environments
- Strong analytical and organisational skills
- Excellent written and spoken German and English; additional languages are a plus
