Role Overview

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Cork-based team. The successful candidate will support project delivery by coordinating engineering activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and assisting in the execution of mechanical installation works.

Requirements

  • Develop a full understanding of the MSL scope of work
  • Report directly to the Project Manager
  • Support Area Engineers in resolving on-site engineering queries
  • Work with the Construction Manager to monitor project schedules
  • Coordinate off-site pipe fabrication in line with construction programme
  • Ensure effective on-site coordination between Mechanical and other disciplines
  • Prepare weekly progress reports for both client and Project Manager
  • Coordinate input from Area Engineers for progress and variation reporting
  • Monitor site activities for scope compliance and identify potential variations
  • Ensure timely ordering and delivery of MSL-supplied equipment
  • Liaise with consultants, PSCS, contractors, and client teams
  • Coordinate project activities with off-site fabrication teams
  • Attend and contribute to regular progress meetings
  • Participate in safety audits and monitor site safety performance
  • Support QA activities to ensure timely system handover
  • Interpret and work from piping isometrics and P&IDs

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering role
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and products
  • Experience reading and interpreting piping isometrics and P&IDs
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
  • Strong organisational and coordination abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment

Desirable

  • Experience in a construction or industrial project environment
  • Familiarity with mechanical contracting and site coordination
  • Knowledge of QA/QC processes and safety standards
