About the role
- Oversee and manage the MEP design, installation, and commissioning for data center construction projects.
- Coordinate with the general contractor, design teams, and subcontractors to ensure MEP work aligns with overall project goals and timelines.
- Manage and track the procurement of MEP equipment and materials.
- Monitor the progress of MEP system installations, ensuring they are in line with the project schedule and meet quality standards.
- Resolve technical issues that arise during construction and provide solutions to ensure minimal disruption to the schedule.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards for all MEP systems.
- Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs related to MEP components.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, and handover of MEP systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Collaborate with the project management team to integrate MEP work with other construction activities.
- Provide regular reports on MEP progress, performance metrics, and budget status to senior management and project stakeholders.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP project management, ideally in data center or mission-critical environments.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC, power distribution, fire protection, and water systems.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale MEP installations and ensure they meet design and performance requirements.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage subcontractors and vendors.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with MEP design software, such as Revit, and project management tools like Procore and Bluebeam.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
- PMP or similar project management certification (preferred).
- LEED certification (a plus).
- OSHA 30 certification (required).
- Must be able to walk, stand, stoop, twist, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods while navigating uneven, unpaved, or obstructed terrain.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to drive between job sites and access all areas of an active construction zone, including raised platforms, scaffolding, and confined spaces.
- Must be able to tolerate exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and construction-related noise, vibrations, and odors.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with contractors, engineers, and site personnel, and maintain situational awareness in high-activity environments.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety vests, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots, is required.
- Must have sufficient visual acuity to read drawings, specifications, and safety signage, and to observe site activity.
