About the role

We are seeking a Quality Engineer with 3–5 years of hands-on experience in extrusion-based nonwoven production in for a large textiles manufacturer. This role focuses on ensuring consistent fiber and fabric quality across spunbond and/or meltblown processes, with a strong emphasis on textile performance characteristics. Experience in hygiene-grade nonwoven extrusion is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control quality across extrusion, fiber spinning, web formation, and bonding processe.
  • Ensure consistency of textile parameters such as basis weight (GSM), fiber diameter, filament distribution, tensile strength, elongation, and fabric uniformity
  • Identify and resolve fabric defects such as streaks, holes, thin/thick areas, and contamination
  • Lead structured problem-solving using tools like 5 Whys, 8D, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor process variation and drive continuous improvement
  • Work closely with production teams to optimize extrusion parameters (temperature, throughput, quench air, draw ratios) for stable fiber formation
  • Develop and maintain control plans, inspection standards, and testing procedures for textile products
  • Conduct and interpret nonwoven fabric testing (tensile, tear, air permeability, thickness, uniformity)
  • Support product trials, new developments, and customer qualifications
  • Participate in audits and ensure compliance with quality standards such as International Organization for Standardization (e.g., ISO 9001)
  • Handle customer complaints related to fabric performance and drive corrective actions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in extrusion-based nonwoven textile manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge of spunbond and/or meltblown processes
  • Understanding of textile structure–property relationships in nonwoven fabrics
  • Experience with polymer processing, particularly polypropylene
  • Hands-on experience with quality tools (FMEA, SPC, root cause analysis)
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in hygiene nonwoven applications (diapers, wipes, medical textiles)
  • Familiarity with multilayer structures (SMS, SMMS)
  • Knowledge of textile testing standards (ASTM/ISO for nonwovens)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification
