Render Engineering Team Lead

<p>As a <strong>Render Engineering Team Lead</strong>, you will build the future of our rendering system—the cornerstone of all our products—while also <strong>leading and growing the engineers</strong> who deliver it. Your work will directly impact performance, quality, and user experience across our technologies. You’ll guide the team in optimizing our video processing pipeline, enabling low-latency streaming, and pushing the boundaries of audio and video processing—while still contributing hands-on to the most important technical challenges.</p> <p>We’re looking for a leader who loves solving hard problems, is passionate about gaming and video technologies, and thrives in fast-paced, innovative environments. You’ll bring strong fundamentals in graphics APIs, streaming, and media processing, and you’ll be ready to coach others to do the same.</p> <h3><strong>What you’ll do</strong></h3> <ul> <li><strong>Lead a small team of render engineers</strong>: set direction, align on priorities, and ensure high-quality execution.</li> <li><strong>Stay hands-on technically</strong>: design and implement key systems, tackle complex performance issues, and review critical changes.</li> <li><strong>Oversee technical strategy</strong> for rendering, media pipelines, and platform performance across products.</li> <li><strong>Own people leadership responsibilities</strong>, including:</li> <ul> <li>Regular <strong>1:1s</strong>, coaching, and career development</li> <li><strong>Annual performance reviews</strong> (and feedback cycles as needed)</li> <li>Hiring participation and team growth planning</li> <li>Building a healthy team culture with clear expectations and accountability</li> </ul> <li>Partner cross-functionally with product and engineering stakeholders to balance roadmap delivery with long-term technical health.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>We want people who</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Understand the demands of <strong>real-time rendering</strong> and <strong>performance optimization</strong>.</li> <li>Have extensive experience with <strong>multi-threaded rendering</strong> and optimizing complex systems.</li> <li>Are proficient in low-level graphics APIs such as <strong>OpenGL, Metal, and DirectX</strong>, and can guide others in using them effectively.</li> <li>Write <strong>C++</strong> as a primary language with deep expertise and practical judgment.</li> <li>Are familiar with <strong>video streaming technologies</strong> and can contribute to optimizing pipelines for low-latency processing.</li> <li>Can communicate clearly, give actionable feedback, and make good tradeoffs under constraints.</li> <li>Have an understanding of <strong>embedded programming</strong> and hardware-aware optimization.</li> </ul> <h3><strong>Our best leaders will have</strong></h3> <ul> <li>Aptitude to lead even when not the technical expert</li> <li>A strong problem-solving mindset: able to diagnose bottlenecks and coach others through root-cause analysis.</li> <li>A passion for building <strong>efficient, reliable, scalable systems</strong>—and for building <strong>teams</strong> that can sustain and evolve those systems over time.</li> </ul>
