About the role

Our Client is a prestigious company operating in the Oil & Gas sector.

FUNCTION

Reporting to the Livelihoods Coordinator and the Livelihoods Supervisor, the main activities of the Resettlement Agriculture Livelihoods Officer are to: conduct daily field oversight of livelihood implementation partners (IP), confirming that the reported progress can be verified in the field; be intimately familiar with the contractual requirements for each IP, including HSE, work scope, and reporting – steward performance of these requirements; ensure field verification of the distribution to impacted households of agricultural starter packs, replacement trees, DUATs, fishing kits and other in-kind benefits. Sign delivery certificates on behalf of the project; facilitate the engagement, mobilization and participation of impacted stakeholders on the project sponsored programs to ensure successful delivery of livelihoods commitments; identify all eligible households that may participate in livelihood restoration benefits and utilize tracking tools to ensure tracking of the delivery of commitments under the household agreement and resettlement plan; sign in situ, on behalf of the project, approx. 1,000 compensation agreements, perform checks on all signed compensation agreements for completeness and file them; observe the safety, health, environmental and social aspects of the execution of the implementing partners’ scopes of work; seek to help them improve their performance through intervention; be the focal point in the field between the IP, the project, the affected households and the communities engaged in the agricultural, fisheries and diversified livelihood programs; participate in meetings with Government, communities and households, as required.

Requirements

  • University degree in relevant area, including rural development, agronomy, agricultural economics;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in engaging communities for livelihood re-establishment and development activities;
  • Experience in managing implementation partners in the field, monitoring of IP activities and engagement with communities;
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken);
  • Ability to communicate in Kiswahili, Makue or Makua is an advantage;
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to develop and maintain good relations with stakeholders including local communities, government authorities, implementation partners and CSOs/NGOs;
  • Mozambican Nationality, is an advantage;
  • Living in the local area of the job is an advantage.
