About the role
We are offering an opportunity to Malaysian candidates who are interested to work in Singapore. The successful incumbent is required to work on a shift roster which includes weekends and public holidays and a stayover at the residence for 3 days at a stretch. We offer an attractive shift pattern up to 8.5 consecutive days off every three weeks.
Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S) is a non-profit charity organisation dedicated to serving children and adults on the autism spectrum, to help these individuals lead meaningful and independent lives in society. ARC(S) offers a range of services and resources tailored to meet the growing concerns and needs of the autism community. As part of our continuum of services , we run a Residential Programme coupled with a supported living and training centre, and we invite passionate people to join us in transforming the lives entrusted to us.
We are looking for a hands-on & energetic Residential Coach who desires to impact lives of adults on the autism spectrum. This would require showing respect and support for our clients’ choices and needs, through coaching and mentoring residents in independent living skills in their daily lives.
Responsibilities
1. Work in a multi-disciplinary team to residents in independent living skills such as:
- Maintain household chores, including laundry and area cleaning
- Manage their time within the residence
- Live with others – sharing common spaces, meals, and chores, as well as consideration for one another’s needs
2. Enable the physical safety and well-being of residents 24/7 with a shift roster:
- Ensure safety and security of residents at all times
- Respond to emergencies or unusual developments as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the residents
3. Provide a safe and homely environment
- Co-develop house practices with the residents
- Ensure residents are accountable for their household duties
- Provide opportunities for social interactions and community
4. Plan and deliver programmes in the area of independent living skills (e.g., preparing simple meals, navigating the community, etc.) using autism-friendly strategies.
5. Document updates on training/coaching progress to different stakeholders
Requirements
- Min Diploma level with 1 - 2 years working experience in social work ( Diploma in Social Science, Psychology and Counselling will be advantageous)
- Working knowledge and skills in daily living tasks and household management
- Good interpersonal and communication (verbal & non-verbal) skills
- Enjoys learning and helping others to learn new skills
- Passion working with adults on the autism spectrum
