About the role
Role Summary
The Trip Supervisor is responsible for planning, leading, and supervising off-campus
excursions for boarders at The Island Boarding Campus. This role focuses on
educational and cultural trips that explore the history, heritage, and traditions of
Cyprus. The successful candidate will have a deep interest in Cypriot culture and a
passion for running and supervising cultural events.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and lead day trips and longer excursions to historical sites, museums,
cultural landmarks, and traditional villages across Cyprus. - Provide boarders with engaging historical and cultural context during trips,
explaining the significance of each location. - Conduct risk assessments for all trips and ensure the safety of boarders at all
times. - Supervise boarders during trips, maintaining appropriate staff-to-student ratios
and following safeguarding procedures. - Coordinate trip schedules with the boarding management team, ensuring
alignment with academic and activity calendars. - Manage trip logistics, including transport, permissions, budgets, and
communication with parents. - Collect feedback from boarders after trips to improve future experiences.
Cultural and Heritage Responsibilities - Design and implement a yearly cultural trip plan that showcases the richness
of Cypriot history, from ancient times to the present. - Organise and supervise on-campus cultural events (e.g., Cypriot food
tastings, traditional music and dance workshops, heritage days). - Share personal knowledge and enthusiasm for Cypriot traditions, helping
international boarders feel connected to the local culture. - Collaborate with local guides, historians, and cultural organisations to
enhance trip experiences. - Lead evening cultural sessions or storytelling events that complement daytime
excursions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Work according to the duty rota on sundays, including public holidays.
- Report any safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately to the Designated
Safeguarding Lead. - Encourage boarders to use English as the primary language during trips and
events.
- Participate in boarding staff training and house team meetings.
- Assist with activity planning using the Reach system.
Candidate Requirements - Proven experience supervising trips or excursions for children or young
people. - Strong knowledge of Cyprus's history, heritage, and traditions, with a genuine
interest in sharing this knowledge. - Experience in risk assessment and trip planning.
- Genuine passion for running and supervising cultural events.
- First aid qualification (desirable).
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and basic IT systems.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Greek is an advantage but not required.
