Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients preoperatively and review medical history, allergies, lab results, and surgical consent forms
- Prepare operating rooms with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for scheduled procedures
- Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site according to safety protocols and time-out procedures
- Coordinate care among surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and ancillary staff
- Maintain sterile environment and enforce infection prevention standards
- Monitor patient condition throughout surgical procedures and document intraoperative care accurately
- Administer medications and IV fluids as ordered
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations and changes in patient condition
- Ensure surgical specimens are properly labeled and transported
- Perform accurate charting and electronic medical record documentation
- Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent cases
- Educate patients and families regarding perioperative care and recovery expectations
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance with regulatory standards
What You'll Do
- Coordinates and manages patient care throughout surgical procedures in the operating room
- Ensures patient safety by verifying procedures, monitoring sterile technique, and following surgical protocols
- Communicates and collaborates with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff during procedures
- Documents intraoperative care, medications, specimens, and surgical events accurately in the medical record
- Prepares and maintains operating room equipment, supplies, and patient positioning before and after surgery
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification preferred or required based on facility policy
- At least 1 year of recent Operating Room nursing knowledge and experience preferred
- Knowledge of aseptic technique and perioperative nursing standards
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- CNOR certification preferred
- Experience in multiple surgical specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, robotics, cardiovascular, or neuro surgery
- Experience with EMR systems and perioperative documentation software
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
- This is a Per Diem position. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Avenue, Tustin, CA 92780.
- The targeted compensation for this position is $60/hr.
