What you’ll build:

The SAP Internship Experience Program is SAP’s global, strategic, paid internship program that provides university students with opportunities to find purpose in their careers. This is more than an internship, it’s the foundation for a career built on connection, creativity, and impact.

You will join a team focused on building practical AI Agent applications that improve developer productivity, business workflows, and user experiences across modern enterprise scenarios.

1. AI Agent Application EngineeringDesign and build AI-powered agent applications using modern full-stack technologies.Develop agent workflows that can understand user intent, retrieve relevant knowledge, call external tools or APIs, and complete multi-step tasks.Build user-facing AI experiences such as chat-based assistants, workflow copilots, task automation agents, and intelligent enterprise tools.

2. Full Stack DevelopmentDevelop scalable frontend and backend features using TypeScript, Node.js, React, and Next.js.Build clean, responsive, and high-performance user interfaces for AI Agent applications.Implement backend APIs, service integrations, authentication flows, and data handling logic to support agent capabilities.

3. LLM, RAG & Tool IntegrationWork with Large Language Models and AI APIs to implement practical agent features.Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation workflows using structured and unstructured knowledge sources.Integrate AI agents with internal systems, external APIs, databases, documents, and business tools.Explore prompt engineering, tool calling, function calling, memory, context management, and agent orchestration patterns.

4. AI-Assisted DevelopmentActively use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, or similar tools to accelerate development.Use AI tools to generate boilerplate, write tests, refactor code, troubleshoot issues, and improve development efficiency.Develop a strong understanding of how AI tools can support the software engineering lifecycle.

5. Quality, Evaluation & PerformanceWrite tests and evaluation cases to validate AI Agent behavior, reliability, and output quality.Monitor and improve application performance, latency, and user experience.Help improve observability, error handling, guardrails, and safety mechanisms for AI-powered applications.

What You’ll bring:

We’re looking for someone who takes initiative, perseveres, and stay curious. You like to work on meaningful innovative projects and are energized by lifelong learning:

Availability: Must be able to commit to a continuous internship for at least 6 months.

Education: Currently pursuing a full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field. Core Skills: Strong proficiency in JavaScript ES6+ and TypeScript/Go. Solid understanding of Node.js runtime and modern web development. Good understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, frontend-backend integration, and basic database concepts.

AI Engineering Interest: Strong interest in AI Agent applications, Large Language Models, prompt engineering, RAG, and AI-assisted development. Basic experience with LLM APIs or AI development frameworks is preferred. Ability to learn new AI tools, SDKs, and documentation quickly.

Problem Solving: Enthusiastic about new technologies with strong problem-solving skills. Comfortable using documentation, debugging tools, and AI assistants to solve technical challenges.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to collaborate effectively in an international engineering environment.
