General Characteristics <ul> <li>Responsible for assisting municipal, utility, industrial, and commercials clients with stormwater planning and compliance efforts associated with Phase I and II Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permits, the Construction General Permit (CGP), and Industrial General Permit (IGP).</li> <li>Interpret complex regulatory permits, assist clients with regulatory compliance, prepare technical reports, conduct environmental compliance inspections and sampling, and complete high quality deliverables on time and within budget</li> <li>Assist environmental sampling, testing, and observations (primarily surface water, stormwater, groundwater, wastewater</li> </ul> Critical Tasks and Responsibilities <ul> <li>Interpret regulatory permits and formulate compliance strategies</li> <li>Prepare comprehensive technical reports and documents (watershed management plans, stormwater management plans, annual reports, non-stormwater discharge source assessments, adaptive management plans, compliance guidance documents, compliance reports, rain and sampling event summary reports, SWPPPs, WQMPs, etc.)</li> <li>Perform construction site and facility environmental compliance inspections (QSP, QISP, FOG)</li> <li>Conduct environmental sampling, testing, and observations (primarily surface water, stormwater, groundwater, wastewater, along with soils and sediments)</li> <li>Make field observations and perform data measurement and collection assignments</li> <li>Data management and analysis (compilation, manipulation, and evaluation of data)</li> <li>Perform maintenance and calibration of environmental monitoring instruments, meters, probes, and automated sampling equipment</li> <li>Develop and implement monitoring and reporting plans and field studies</li> <li>Perform regulatory and water quality data analyses</li> </ul> What we're looking for: <ul> <li>BS / BA in Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or another related field.  </li> <li>Previous experience with environmental field sampling for data collection and documentation preferred.  </li> <li>Strong technical writing skills, the ability to successfully multi-task, safety awareness, and a good record and understanding of safe work practices.  </li> <li>Team oriented but able to work independently.  </li> <li>Project planning skills for permitting, scheduling, and resource coordination.  </li> <li>Can direct and oversee field subcontractor operations and safety compliance.  </li> <li>Light construction or environmental experience/hands-on skills a plus.  </li> <li>Experience with data management and report preparation.  </li> <li>Ability to edit or assist with Phase I and II ESA reports is preferred.  </li> <li>40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour refresher, and supervisor certification preferred.  </li> <li>A valid driver's license, good driving history and reliable transportation are required.  </li> <li>Strong verbal and written communication skills.  </li> <li data-leveltext="" data-font="Symbol" data-listid="3" data-list-defn-props="{"335552541":1,"335559685":720,"335559991":360,"469769226":"Symbol","469769242":[8226],"469777803":"left","469777804":"","469777815":"hybridMultilevel"}" data-aria-posinset="13" data-aria-level="1">Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.  Experience with database, drafting, and/or project management software a plus.  </li> </ul> Why you'll love working with us: <ul> <li>Medical, dental and vision plan options.</li> <li>Company-paid life, short, and long-term disability insurance.</li> <li>401k plan.</li> <li>Paid time-off and holidays.</li> <li>Cross-training and the ability to work on a variety of projects.</li> <li>Other perks and incentives.</li> <li>Working with the best and brightest in the industry.</li> <li>2,000+ employee national firm with 70+ locations across the US.</li> </ul> #LI-BS1 <div data-ccp-timestamp="1739308224239"> <table style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 263pt;" width="351"> <tbody> <tr style="height: 14.25pt;"> <td style="width: 263pt; height: 14.25pt;" width="351" height="19">Apex Job Title: Scientist 1 - Staff Scientist</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> Req ID: 11749 </div>  <div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="pay-input"><div class="title">Annual Expected Pay Range</div><div class="pay-range">$60,000—$75,000 USD</div></div></div><div class="content-conclusion">We believe in equality for all and celebrate the diversity and differences of our employees, customers, and communities.
