About the role
Scrap Metal Processor
We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Scrap Metal Processor to join our scrap yard team. This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, helping customers, and working around equipment and metal recycling operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with unloading scrap metal from vehicles and trailers
- Sort scrap metal by type and place materials in the correct yard locations
- Prepare metals for processing using equipment such as balers, shears, forklifts, telehandlers, wire strippers, torches, and plasma cutters
- Sweep, shovel, blow, and perform general yard and equipment clean-up
- Weigh materials on the scale and complete customer tickets as needed
- Prepare vehicles for processing, including trash removal, designated part removal, and fluid removal/reclaiming
- Work safely in a fast-paced outdoor environment
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Must have steel-toe boots
- Able to work 40+ hours per week, with overtime as needed
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods
- Able to lift, move, and handle heavy materials as needed
- Comfortable standing for long periods and working in loud environments
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Able to follow verbal directions and work independently or as part of a team
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards preferred
- Previous customer service or scrap metal experience helpful, but not required
Schedule
- Full-time, 40+ hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8am-4:30pm
- Overtime may be required as needed
