The ideal candidate has experience that includes interaction with the local Chicago law enforcement community to work at an iconic cultural institution located in the Central Business District.</span> The individual will work with onsite management, City of Chicago officials, and the contracted security staff to maintain all aspects of physical, personnel and visitor security and life safety. This position will manage all aspects of emergency preparedness including implementation, training and drills. We are seeking a customer-focused and results-oriented professional who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-t</span>ask.</span></p> <p><strong><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Responsibilities:</span></strong></p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Manage contracted security staff operations and enforce security contract standards, policies and procedures. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Create and promote a positive and proactive work environment. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Develop and implement short and long-range plans for personnel and guest safety, as well as asset protection. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Implement safety protocols, including emergency preparedness plans, bomb threat plans and disaster response procedures, and train staff on responses. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Assist with development and implementation of all evacuation ordinance requirements, including fire and life safety teams, emergency evacuation/fire drills, safety training for employees, emergency manuals, signage, etc. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Oversee the management of all regulatory compliance with City, State, OSHA, Licensing and NFPA standards impacting the property’s operations. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Manage, review and update all compliance mechanisms such as audits, inspections, reports and documentation. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Establish and enforce protocols for property’s security operations and controls, property removal and after-hours facility access.</span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Monitor and oversee security system integration, access control, life safety systems and radio communications. Candidate should be proficient in modern security system technology, such as electronic access control systems and central station monitoring systems and CCTV systems with digital recording. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Respond to and provide assistance with reported medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, intrusion alarms or elevator entrapments, following established emergency response procedures. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Respond to and manage any extenuating circumstances should they arise, including potentially aggressive protestors. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Conduct internal investigations and prepare written reports and documentation on investigative findings and processes. File police reports on behalf of building management. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Review and report on all threats, risks, intel, investigations and any ongoing issues, providing recommendations for corrective action and/or mitigation strategies. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Evaluate, recommend and implement programs that continually improve security service levels. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Stay abreast of emerging trends and new developments within the security industry and implement where applicable. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Network with law enforcement organizations (IACP, FBI, and local police departments) and security industry associations (ASIS). </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Work collaboratively with external groups such as Federal, State and Local law enforcement and emergency services, as well as internally with management, ownership, facilities and legal departments. </span></li> <li><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;"> Monitor the quality of contracted security staff performance including the review of disciplinary actions, as well as ensuring a regular performance appraisal program is executed for all staff including security site supervisors, shift supervisors, assistant supervisors and security officers.</span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; color: black; font-size: 10pt;">Consult with and assist the security contractor on scheduling shift assignments. </span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; color: black; font-size: 10pt;"> Supervise and ensure compliance of training programs for security officers and supervisors<strong>. </strong></span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; color: black; font-size: 10pt;"> Coordinate and work with security vendors to manage costs associated with security and safety technology. </span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; color: black; font-size: 10pt;"> Provide management with quarterly reports and annual audits of the security program. </span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; color: black; font-size: 10pt;"> Review shift reports, logs and work orders on a daily basis, responding appropriately and ensuring accuracy in logging procedures. Follow up with management on any security-related issues or concerns. </span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; color: black; font-size: 10pt;"> Oversee employee, contractor and vendor building access and deliveries, addressing any situations that arise.</span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">Coordinate and direct private/special event security activities on site for management, DCASE and city.</span></li> <li style="margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;">The overview outlined above, is considered a core list of job duties/requirements for the role of the Director of Security. The Director of Security is also expected to adapt to changes and/or additions as needed to secure the physical property and the service expectations of the owner, management and employees.</span></li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;"><strong>Qualifications:</strong></span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;"><strong>Education and/or Experience: </strong></span><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement Management or related field and/or equivalent experience/education preferred.&nbsp;</span>Minimum of seven years of managerial and policy making experience in the law enforcement or contract security field.&nbsp;<span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;">Experience level to include extensive internal contacts within the local law enforcement community.</span></span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;"><strong>Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:&nbsp;</strong></span>Ability to obtain a valid PERC.&nbsp;Professional Certifications in Security Management; CPP or similar certifications preferred.</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 10pt;"><strong>Computer Skills:&nbsp;</strong>Ability to create and manage budgets, budget variance reports and other reports in Excel. Experience with workforce management systems and scheduling systems preferred.</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;"><strong>Language Skills:&nbsp;</strong></span>Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Bi-lingual considered a plus.&nbsp;Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, financial and time management skills with the ability to concisely and effectively address questions while providing subject matter expertise on policy to ownership and management.</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">&nbsp;</span></p> <p style="margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: verdana, geneva;"><strong>Other Qualifications: </strong>A</span>bility to organize and manage multiple priorities.&nbsp; Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
