Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging science lessons tailored to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs
  • Create a stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration, inquiry, and critical thinking
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and adapt the curriculum to ensure all students can access and enjoy science content
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere where students feel confident to express their ideas and ask questions
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to enhance their learning experience
  • Collaborate with the SEN team and other professionals to provide comprehensive support for students
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives to promote science education and encourage students to engage with scientific concepts outside the classroom

Experience and Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching science, preferably in a special educational needs context
  • Strong understanding of effective teaching strategies for students with learning difficulties
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to fostering positive relationships with students
  • A clear DBS check
  • Legal right to work in the UK
