Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEMH needs, focusing on building positive relationships and fostering emotional well-being.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Assist in delivering a tailored curriculum, adapting learning materials to meet individual needs and abilities.
  • Work closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and other staff to monitor student progress, set achievable targets, and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students in developing coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, and social skills.
  • Help create an inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and supported.
  • Participate in staff training and contribute to the school's strategies for supporting SEMH students.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs or in a behaviour management role is essential.
  • Skills: Strong communication and de-escalation skills, with the ability to foster trust and rapport with students.
  • Attributes: Patience, resilience, and empathy for young people facing emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of SEMH strategies, therapeutic approaches, and restorative practices is an advantage.
