Senior Software Developer

You will collaborate with our business unit representatives to create and modify general financial applications to meet the needs of our internal clients. Our applications are heavily dependent on our database design and the logic that supports our database operations. A strong background in SQL is a must. Our ideal candidate has at least three years of professional experience in software development.</p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> East Lansing, MI (On-Site) | <strong>Type:</strong> Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Lead the architecture, development, and maintenance of scalable enterprise applications across the full stack</li> <li>Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level developers, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of continuous improvement</li> <li>Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions</li> <li>Write and maintain SQL Server queries and stored procedures in support of application development</li> <li>Drive best practices in RESTful API design and ensure seamless integration between front-end and back-end systems</li> <li>Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development tools to accelerate productivity and elevate code quality across the team</li> <li>Contribute to sprint planning, technical roadmaps, and architectural decision-making</li> <li>Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities proactively</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p> <ul> <li>7+ years of hands-on software development experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead capacity</li> <li>Deep expertise in Java development, including Spring Boot and RESTful API design</li> <li>Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including deep expertise in at least one modern framework (Vue.js, React, or Angular) and a solid understanding of modern ES standards, async patterns, and front-end performance optimization</li> <li>Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including queries, stored procedures, and basic schema management</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to mentor developers and lead technical initiatives within an agile team</li> <li>Proven track record of delivering clean, maintainable, well-documented code at scale</li> <li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders</li> <li>Experience leveraging AI tools to improve development workflows and code quality</li> <li>Experience in banking or financial services is a plus and will be given favorable consideration</li> </ul> <p><strong><u>Employee benefits</u></strong></p> <ul> <li>Medical – Multiple plans to choose from including HSA and traditional.
