Senior Software Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our innovative team focused on improving storage efficiency for metrics, logs, and other data types. Your work will advance our solutions for querying and optimizing data storage layouts. The role involves enhancing existing logging systems, evolving metrics processing capabilities for large-scale adoption, and driving efficiency improvements across storage systems.

This highly collaborative position is part of a globally distributed team. We value clear communication, incremental improvements, and consensus decision-making. You will have the autonomy to guide projects from conception to completion, contributing to both technical design and implementation in a modern, supportive environment.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate with a global team of experienced engineers focused on data storage and query systems.

• Act as an expert in storage engine technologies, lending insight and guidance to peers.

• Build new, data-intensive features and refine current solutions for ease of understanding and use.

• Design and implement advanced algorithms and data structures at system and hardware levels.

• Engage with the user community to triage and resolve issues.

• Write modern, idiomatic Java code for high-performance solutions.

What You Bring

• Strong core Java skills with expertise in data structures and concurrency.

• Deep understanding of concurrent and parallel programming.

• Excellent grounding in applied data processing (algorithms, data structures).

• Experience with storage systems and OS-level abstractions.

• Proven ability to drive projects end to end with high autonomy.

• Solid software engineering fundamentals and a record of delivering quality solutions.

• Collaborative approach to development, including asynchronous teamwork.

• Experience using data storage technologies such as Elasticsearch, Solr, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bonus Points

• Background designing/leading cross-functional initiatives.

• Open-source contributions and familiarity with CI workflows.

• Experience in database, search engine, OS, or cloud service development.
