<p><strong>About the role:</strong></p>
<p data-start="0" data-end="271">We are looking for a <strong data-start="21" data-end="62">Software Engineer II (Backend)</strong> who can quickly understand, stabilize, and take full ownership of architecting, developing, and optimizing our backend systems. This role will be responsible for driving major new releases in 2026 and beyond.</p>
<p data-start="273" data-end="459" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node="">You will serve as the go-to expert for all backend matters, owning everything from day-to-day operations and system reliability to designing and delivering large-scale upcoming features.</p>

<p><strong>What you will do:</strong></p>
<ul>

<li data-aria-posinset="2" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Act as the primary owner for all backend systems in this Fintech application</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="3" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Make technical decisions and drive execution independently</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="4" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Take over and stabilize an existing system</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="5" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Understand architecture, codebase, and data flows</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="6" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Ensure a smooth transition from vendor to in-house team</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="7" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Operate and improve production systems</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="8" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Troubleshoot issues across application, infrastructure, and databases</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="9" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Improve reliability, performance, and observability (Dynatrace or similar)</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="10" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Deliver major features</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="11" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Lead backend implementation for large, business-critical features</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="12" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Balance speed with long-term maintainability</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="13" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Work with infrastructure and data</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="14" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Manage deployments on Kubernetes</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="15" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Work across Linux and Windows environments</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="16" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Maintain and optimize PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MS SQL</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="17" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Raise the engineering bar</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="18" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Introduce pragmatic improvements in code quality, CI/CD, and monitoring</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="19" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Add structure and documentation where needed</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="20" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Collaborate with stakeholders</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="21" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Work closely with product and frontend teams</span> </li>
<li data-aria-posinset="22" data-aria-level="2"><span data-contrast="auto">Translate business needs into practical technical solutions</span> </li>

<p><strong>What you will need:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Experience: </span><span data-contrast="auto">7+ years in backend engineering</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Core stack: </span><span data-contrast="auto">Strong Java experience or a similar language experience.</span></li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Databases: </span><span data-contrast="auto">Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments</span> </li>

<li><span data-contrast="auto">Production & troubleshooting</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Experience with monitoring/observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace)</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">System ownership mindset</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Comfortable being the single point of ownership for backend</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Takes initiative, makes decisions, and drives things to completion</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Able to work with imperfect systems and improve them incrementally</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">System understanding</span> </li>
<li><span data-contrast="auto">Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar codebases and architectures</span> </li>
