<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p> <p>As a Software Engineering Manager, you will lead high-performing application development teams to design, build, and deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions that support critical business operations. You will blend technical leadership with people management, driving engineering excellence while fostering a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented team environment. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, product teams, and external vendors to ensure technology solutions align with organizational goals and deliver measurable value.</p> <p><strong><em>This position is 100% onsite, day 1 in our Erlanger, KY office.</em></strong></p> <p><em>You will thrive in this role if you:</em></p> <ul> <li>Lead with a balance of technical expertise and people-first leadership, inspiring teams to deliver their best work.</li> <li>Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences, translating business needs into actionable engineering solutions.</li> <li>Take ownership of outcomes, proactively removing roadblocks and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality software.</li> <li>Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.</li> <li>Enjoy mentoring and developing engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.</li> <li>Adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment and confidently manage competing priorities.</li> </ul> <p><em>These skills will be used to:</em></p> <ul> <li>Lead and manage software engineering teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development.</li> <li>Drive application design, development, and delivery using modern engineering practices and technologies.</li> <li>Collaborate with business leaders, architects, and product teams to define and deliver scalable solutions.</li> <li>Oversee vendor partnerships and ensure successful delivery of externally supported solutions.</li> <li>Establish and enforce development standards, best practices, and governance processes.</li> <li>Manage budgets, resources, and project timelines to ensure efficient execution of technology initiatives.</li> <li>Provide technical guidance on architecture, system design, and emerging technologies.</li> <li>Ensure software quality through testing strategies, code reviews, and performance monitoring.</li> <li>Lead continuous improvement efforts, including process optimization and adoption of new tools and frameworks.</li> <li>Stay current on industry trends and bring innovative ideas to improve systems and processes.</li> </ul> <p><em>Required Qualifications:</em></p> <ul> <li>5+ years of experience leading software engineering or application development teams.</li> <li>Proven experience delivering complex software solutions in a business-driven environment.</li> <li>Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and develop talent.</li> <li>Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with business stakeholders.</li> <li>Solid understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and best practices.</li> <li>Experience working with modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, .NET, Python, or similar).</li> <li>Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound technical and business decisions.</li> <li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).</li> </ul> <p><em>Preferred Qualifications:</em></p> <ul> <li>Experience managing vendor relationships and external development partners.</li> <li>Familiarity with cloud platforms, AI/ML technologies, or modern data solutions.</li> <li>Experience with Agile, DevOps, or CI/CD practices.</li> <li>Exposure to enterprise architecture and large-scale system design.</li> <li>Experience implementing or supporting AI-enabled applications or automation initiatives.</li> <li>Strong understanding of security, scalability, and performance considerations in enterprise systems.</li> </ul> <p><em>Physical Demands and Work Environment:</em></p> <ul> <li>Must be able to use sensory skills (i.e. verbal communication) to effectively communicate and interact with other Associates and customers.</li> <li>Must be able to perform repetitive motions and use fine motor skills (i.e. typing, writing) to operate office supplies (i.e. computer, calculator, copier).</li> <li>Must be able to lift and carry approximately 20-25lbs unassisted.</li> <li>Must be able to sit for long periods of time with low periods of reaching and standing.</li> </ul> <p></p> <p><strong>The Value of a Career with The Fischer Group<br></strong>The Fischer Group is a family of companies focused on delivering exceptional experiences across homebuilding, financial services, and real estate.
