<p><strong>What do we need</strong></p>
<p>We are seeking a <strong>Solutions Architect</strong> to be a senior technical authority within Dotmatics Professional Services, responsible for defining and governing end-to-end solution architectures, including its role as the orchestration backbone connecting scientific informatics, data pipelines, and physical lab execution environments. You will ensure that solutions are not only functionally correct, but also meet rigorous non-functional requirements around performance, scalability, security, reliability, observability, maintainability, and long-term operability.</p>

<p><strong>Architecture & Design Authority</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as the design authority for Luma-based customer solutions, including end-to-end lab orchestration architectures that span scientific informatics, data infrastructure, and physical lab systems</li>
<li>Define logical and physical architectures covering applications, data, integrations, identity, environments, and operations</li>
<li>Architect solutions that bridge the <strong>digital and physical lab</strong> — connecting experiment planning, protocol authoring, and scheduling through to execution on automated instruments, workcells, and robotic platforms</li>
<li>Ensure architectural consistency across multiple customer engagements</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Functional & Non-Functional Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Shape functional requirements in collaboration with Scientific Architect and Application Scientists, including workflow automation requirements that span study design through instrument-level execution</li>
<li>Own non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, resilience, observability, accessibility, internationalisation, and maintainability</li>
<li>Translate business and scientific needs into robust technical architectures</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Integration, Data Architecture & Lab Orchestration</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Design integration approaches using technologies such as Apache NiFi, APIs, batch pipelines, and event-driven patterns </li>
<li>Define data ingestion, transformation, and migration strategies that accommodate the high-frequency, heterogeneous data generated by automated lab environments</li>
<li>Architect solutions that enable experiments to transition seamlessly from <em>planned</em> → <em>scheduled</em> → <em>executing</em> → <em>data captured</em> with minimal manual intervention, leveraging Luma as the orchestration layer</li>
<li>Define integration patterns with <strong>lab automation and scheduling platforms</strong> </li>
<li>Architect solutions leveraging Databricks, including configuration via Databricks SQL, for aggregation and analysis of instrument and experimental data at scale</li>
<li>Ensure data lineage, auditability, and regulatory compliance across the full experimental data lifecycle, from instrument output through to structured scientific records</li>
<li>Support visualisation and analytics patterns using tools such as Sigma for Databricks</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Platform and Enterprise Integration</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Architect Luma solutions that integrate with customer enterprise systems including: ELNs (Dotmatics & third-party), LIMS, SDMS, PLM, ERP, MES, instrument data systems, and lab automation schedulers</li>
<li>Define how Dotmatics fits within broader <strong>Siemens landscapes</strong>, particularly in environments where scientific R&D and industrial/manufacturing processes converge</li>
<li>Scope and design integrations with third-party scientific platforms including ELN/LIMS providers scientific data analysis tools (e.g., Spotfire, JMP, Pipeline Pilot, Geneious), and lab automation platforms </li>
<li>Define sample tracking, workcell scheduling, and instrument connectivity architectures as part of broader lab orchestration solution design</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Security, Reliability, and Operations</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Apply security best practices covering IAM, data protection, tenancy, and compliance</li>
<li>Design for high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery</li>
<li>Define observability strategies including logging, monitoring, and alerting — extended to cover automated lab execution environments and instrument connectivity layers</li>
<li>Ensure architectures are operable by support and cloud teams post go-live</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Stakeholder Engagement</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as senior technical advisor to customers, including IT leadership, enterprise architects, and lab automation/informatics leads</li>
<li>Partner with Sales and PreSales during solution shaping, scoping, and risk assessment — including technical qualification of lab orchestration opportunities </li>
<li>Represent Dotmatics architecture in joint Siemens engagements and architecture forums</li>
<li>Work with Siemens and non-Siemens partners as a peer architect ensuring architectural alignment across joint delivery models</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Technical Leadership & Enablement</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Provide architectural guidance to other Solution Architects, Technical Leads, Application Scientists, and Delivery Partners on lab orchestration patterns and integration architectures</li>
<li>Review designs and implementations for architectural compliance</li>
<li>Raise the overall architectural maturity of the Dotmatics Professional Services organisation and partner ecosystems, including in the emerging discipline of connected and automated lab design</li>
<li>Create reusable architectural artefacts including reference architectures, lab orchestration integration templates, instrument connectivity patterns, and design decision frameworks</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Partner Enablement</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Act as the architectural authority for partner-led implementations of the Dotmatics Luma platform</li>
<li>Enable system integrators, Siemens partners, and regional delivery partners through architectural guidance, design reviews, and technical enablement sessions</li>
<li>Define reference architectures, integration patterns, and implementation guardrails for partners — including guardrails for digital-physical integration scope and instrument connectivity standards</li>
<li>Support partner onboarding by defining "how Luma should be implemented" from an architectural and non-functional perspective</li>
<li>Ensure partner-delivered solutions meet Dotmatics and Siemens standards for scalability, security, operability, and maintainability</li>
<li>Collaborate with Partner, Sales, and Services leadership to define where Dotmatics retains architectural ownership</li>
<li>Act as an escalation point for complex architectural issues arising in partner-led engagements, </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>We are looking for people who have </strong>10+ years with scoping automated scientific workflow-based solutions, designing enterprise-grade SaaS or hybrid architectures, ideally including experience with scientific informatics, lab automation, or connected laboratory environments, you may hold a Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical or scientific field, and advanced understanding of integration patterns, APIs, data pipelines, and distributed systems — including event-driven architectures suitable for real-time instrument and automation data</p>
<p><strong>The Key Skills We are looking for</strong></p>
<p><strong>Technical Architecture</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with data platforms (Databricks) and integration tools (Apache NiFi)</li>
<li>Ability to reason about performance, scalability, and failure modes across heterogeneous, multi-system environments</li>
<li>Familiarity with lab automation connectivity standards and protocols (SiLA2, LADS, OPC-UA) and their architectural implications</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Enterprise & Lab Systems Exposure</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience integrating complex application landscapes (ELN, LIMS, SDMS, PLM, ERP, MES, instrument data systems, lab automation schedulers) across heterogeneous customer IT and OT environments</li>
<li>Understanding of how digital workflow systems connect to physical lab execution </li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Scientific Domain Appreciation</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Scientific R&D workflows and data, particularly in life sciences, pharma/biotech, or regulated lab environments</li>
<li>Appreciation of the practical realities of laboratory automation — what it means for an experiment to go from planned to actually running on an instrument</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Leadership & Communication</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Able to explain complex architectural decisions — including digital-physical integration trade-offs — to scientific, IT, and operational audiences</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Partner and Ecosystem Experience</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience working with system integrators or technology partners in enterprise delivery models</li>
<li>Comfortable defining guardrails rather than prescribing every implementation detail</li>
<li>Able to balance enablement with governance in partner-led engagements</li>
</ul>

<div><strong>You May Also Have</strong></div>
<ul>
<li>Architecture certifications (TOGAF, cloud architecture)</li>
<li>Experience in regulated environments (GxP, FDA, ISO, SOC 2, GDPR) including 21 CFR Part 11 and ALCOA+ data integrity requirements for automated lab systems</li>
<li>Exposure to Siemens digital industry products (Opcenter, Teamcenter, SIMATIC, or Industrial IoT/MindSphere)</li>
<li>Familiarity with lab automation scheduling platforms (e.g., Green Button Go, Momentum, Overlord, Cellario, SAMI) and/or liquid handling/instrument vendor ecosystems</li>
</ul>

<p><span style="font-size: 14px;">Dotmatics utilises a national market-based approach to base pay benchmarking and pay band development. The candidate's final starting pay is based on job-related skills, experience, job specific qualifications & location. In addition to base salary, Dotmatics has implemented a total rewards strategy, which is the combination of compensation, benefits and recognition. </span></p>
