Sports Science Associate

<p><strong>JOB&nbsp;TITLE:</strong> Sports Science Associate&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>DEPARTMENT: </strong>Player Development – Strength and Performance&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>JOB&nbsp;SUMMARY:</strong> The Baltimore Orioles are seeking a Sports Science Associate for the 2026 season. The Sports Science Associate will assist with the delivery of sports science solutions within Player Development. They will assist our Major League Performance Analyst, Biomechanist, Sports Scientist, and MiLB Strength and Conditioning Coordinator to maximize the use of available technologies and information to aid in elite program design and decision making.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>REPORTS TO:&nbsp;</strong>Head of Strength and Performance&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong>&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Primary duties to include, but not limited to the following:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Assist&nbsp;with implementation and maintenance of existing sports science initiatives across the organization, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Set up, calibrate,&nbsp;operate, maintain, and troubleshoot all technologies&nbsp;and their data&nbsp;used within Strength and Performance,&nbsp;which include&nbsp;(but are not limited to) VALD systems,&nbsp;GymAware,&nbsp;and&nbsp;Catapult.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Administer&nbsp;assessments and&nbsp;performance tests&nbsp;as directed,&nbsp;while&nbsp;ensuring&nbsp;the highest integrity in data acquisition.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Assist&nbsp;with data management, organization, and integration into the organization’s internal athlete management systems and databases.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Aid in&nbsp;facilitating&nbsp;the proper reporting&nbsp;of data to support holistic training initiatives as directed.&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Provide support on&nbsp;exploratory Sports Science research projects and analysis using a combination of biomechanical, sports science, and in-game data as directed&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Work closely with the Strength and Performance staff to develop and&nbsp;disseminate&nbsp;relevant information from&nbsp;Sports&nbsp;Science initiatives.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Document all communications and research to&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;reproducibility&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Provide support&nbsp;for&nbsp;data collection with our Amateur&nbsp;Scouting Department. This may include&nbsp;event-planning,&nbsp;warm-up, assessment, and reporting of amateur players during Scouting events.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Aid in scheduling motion captures with&nbsp;appropriate staff&nbsp;on site (e.g.&nbsp;pitching, hitting, S&amp;C, Medical,&nbsp;etc.)&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Required:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>BS&nbsp;in exercise science, exercise physiology, sports science, kinesiology,&nbsp;biomechanics,&nbsp;or similar&nbsp;fields.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with the following technologies: Force plates,&nbsp;Catapult,&nbsp;Velocity-Based Training&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Familiar with athlete management systems&nbsp;&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Strong communication&nbsp;and presentation skills (graphical, written, and verbal)&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Desire to work with the Sports Performance department to help build a collaborative, organized system&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Excellent attention to detail&nbsp;and&nbsp;organizational skills&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Wants to work in a baseball setting&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ability and willingness to work extended hours/holidays as needed&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Preferred:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>MS&nbsp;in exercise science, exercise physiology, sports science, kinesiology,&nbsp;biomechanics,&nbsp;or similar&nbsp;fields.&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Certified Performance and Sports Scientist (CPSS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)&nbsp;</li> <li>Bilingual&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with the following technologies: Motion capture, high speed video, Trackman&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience in applied sports science or strength &amp; conditioning settings within elite sport environments (collegiate, professional, or private sector).&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience&nbsp;with R, Python, SQL&nbsp;</li> </ul> <ul> <li>Data science capabilities&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>LOCATION:</strong>&nbsp;</p> <ul> <li>Sarasota, FL&nbsp;</li> </ul><div class="content-conclusion"><div><strong>DISCLAIMER:&nbsp;</strong></div> <div>The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position.
