Structural Drafter

Position Overview 

Giffen Consulting Ltd. (Giffen) is looking to hire a Structural Drafter to join our growing team. We are looking for an individual to join us on a full-time basis in our Vancouver or Toronto office. This is a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office.

This is an intermediate to senior-level position that offers lots of opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities 

The ideal candidate will be able to:

• Produce detailed structural drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Autodesk Advance Steel.
• Prepare general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, and erection drawings for structural projects.
• Develop and maintain 3D structural models for mining and heavy industrial projects.
• Generate plans, elevations, sections, and details from structural models.
• Create and maintain drawing sets for review, approval, and construction. 

 

Qualifications + Experience

• A diploma in Structural Engineering Technology from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Registered as an Applied Science Technologist in Canada or eligible to register.
• 3+ years progressive experience as a Structural Drafter on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects.
• Familiarity with greenfield and brownfield mining open-pit and underground mining projects.
• Experience creating 2D and 3D drawings, plot plans, profiles, and details.
• AutoCAD is essential.
• Advance Steel would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes.
• Ability to present project design and concepts to clients.
• Fluent with MS Office software.
