Position: Substitute Teacher (Elementary & Secondary)
Position Summary:
Elementary Substitute Teacher (PK-Grade 5):
Canadian Academy seeks dynamic occasional substitute teachers for our Elementary Division (PK-Grade 5). Responsibilities include implementing lesson plans, maintaining a positive classroom environment, and supporting diverse learning needs. Must be adaptable, engaging, and skilled in managing young learners. Prior experience with elementary education preferred.
Secondary Substitute Teacher (Grades 6-12):
Canadian Academy seeks dynamic occasional substitute teachers for our Secondary Division (Grade 6-12). Duties include delivering lesson plans, facilitating classroom discussions, and ensuring student engagement. Candidates should have strong classroom management skills and the ability to work with older students across various subjects. Experience in secondary education is preferred.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a valid permission to work in Japan (citizen, permanent resident, or appropriate visa)
- Must have a university degree, teaching certification and or relevant academic qualification
Preferred Experience and Qualities (in no particular order):
- 2+ years of relevant teaching experience
- Knowledge and understanding of the International Baccalaureate Programmes
- Demonstrated ability to support the diverse learning needs of students in a class and to collaborate effectively with Learning Support and EAL specialists
- Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills
