System Engineer

<p><strong>Systems Engineer</strong></p> <p>We are seeking a <strong>Systems Engineer</strong> to support a team responsible for eight products enabling and supporting <strong>I&amp;L mission operations</strong>. This role combines systems engineering with hands-on technical and operational engineering, requiring strong requirements discipline alongside practical technical understanding.</p> <p>The Systems Engineer will work closely with a Tech Lead and cross-functional stakeholders to plan, define, document, and implement solutions across multiple products, including <strong>COTS and GOTS products</strong>.</p> <p>In addition to supporting ongoing development and integration efforts, this role will play a key part in <strong>establishing Agile practices and foundational processes</strong> that define how work is planned, executed, tested, and operationally supported.</p> <p>This position is well suited for someone who is comfortable operating in an environment where processes are still being defined, enjoys organizing and structuring new efforts, and can balance big-picture system thinking with day-to-day delivery. The ideal candidate brings clarity to ambiguity, drives work forward, and acts as a connective layer between business needs, technical implementation, and operational outcomes.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary Systems Engineering partner to the Tech Lead and Agile team across multiple products</li> <li>Lead requirements analysis, decomposition, and documentation, translating business and operational needs into clear, testable requirements</li> <li>Establish and maintain systems documentation using Confluence, including system views, workflows, interfaces, and architectural decision records</li> <li>Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and stakeholders to support new product development and enhancements</li> <li>Help define and implement team-level processes, including requirements management, change control, and traceability</li> <li>Support integration and operational use of <strong>COTS and GOTS products</strong>, including evaluation, configuration, and sustainment considerations</li> <li>Create and manage UAT processes, including test planning, acceptance criteria, and coordination with stakeholders</li> <li>Participate in system and integration testing to ensure requirements are validated end-to-end</li> <li>Use JIRA to manage requirements, stories, dependencies, and acceptance criteria within Agile workflows</li> <li>Leverage GitLab for collaboration with development teams, including understanding pipelines, versioning, and release workflows</li> <li>Act as a bridge between business, technical, and operational perspectives to ensure scalable, sustainable solutions</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Required Qualifications / Must Haves</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience as a Systems Engineer in an Agile or hybrid Agile environment</li> <li>Strong background in requirements analysis, documentation, and lifecycle management</li> <li>Experience supporting <strong>COTS and GOTS products</strong></li> <li>Technical fluency sufficient to collaborate deeply with developers and architects (APIs, integrations, environments, etc.)</li> <li>Experience working across multiple products or systems simultaneously</li> <li>Hands-on experience with JIRA and Confluence</li> <li>Experience defining and supporting UAT and testing processes</li> <li>Comfortable working in environments with evolving scope, new development, and immature processes</li> </ul> <p><strong>Desired Personal Attributes</strong></p> <ul> <li>Drives solutions forward rather than waiting for direction</li> <li>Willingness to lean into ambiguous or undefined tasks</li> <li>Strong sense of ownership and accountability</li> <li>Ability to bring structure and organization to new efforts</li> <li>Comfortable balancing competing priorities while maintaining delivery momentum</li> <li>Clear communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders</li> </ul> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with GitLab (repositories, CI/CD concepts, release coordination)</li> <li>Background in operational systems engineering or production support environments</li> <li>Experience helping establish or mature Agile team practices</li> <li>Experience supporting multi-product or platform-based environments</li> </ul> <p><strong>What Success Looks Like</strong></p> <ul> <li>Clear, actionable requirements trusted by development teams and stakeholders</li> <li>Well-structured documentation that scales across the product ecosystem</li> <li>Strong partnership between Systems Engineering, Product, and Development</li> <li>Repeatable UAT and testing processes that reduce rework and delivery risk</li> <li>Agile practices that enable predictable and efficient delivery</li> </ul> <p>The estimated salary range for this position is between $140,000-$180,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package.
