Technical Accounting Manager (CPA + US GAAP/SEC)

This role provides authoritative guidance under US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements and partners with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure high-quality, compliant financial reporting.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Own the preparation of formal technical accounting position papers and memos for complex, material, and/or unique accounting issues, including presentation to senior management and external auditors.</li> <li>Lead and guide business partners on the accounting and reporting implications of strategic and non-routine transactions, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, internal policies, and relevant regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Drive the operationalization of financial reporting, risk management reporting, and regulatory reporting requirements, ensuring robust processes and clear ownership across teams.</li> <li>Serve as the primary subject matter expert for technical accounting, providing proactive consultation, advice, and day-to-day guidance to finance and cross-functional stakeholders.</li> <li>Design and document new or enhanced internal controls when processes change, ensuring alignment with SOX and internal policy requirements.</li> <li>Stay current on evolving financial reporting standards, SEC and other regulatory requirements, and emerging accounting issues, and translate these developments into practical guidance and impact assessments for the business.</li> <li>Own key components of the preparation and review of internal and external financial statements, including technical disclosures and footnotes.</li> <li>Act as the primary liaison with external auditors on technical accounting matters, annual audits, and quarterly reviews, ensuring timely resolution of issues and clear communication of positions.</li> <li>Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional peers to ensure early involvement in transactions and consistent application of accounting policies.</li> <li>Contribute to building and scaling the technical accounting infrastructure and control environment to support the company's growth.</li> <li>Perform other related duties as required in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.</li> <li>Other duties, as assigned</li> </ul> <p><strong>Requirements:&nbsp;</strong></p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.</li> <li>CPA designation (or equivalent) with active status.</li> <li>5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm or comparable environment.</li> <li>Deep, hands-on expertise in US GAAP/IFRS, financial reporting, and accounting for complex transactions.</li> <li>Proven experience documenting technical accounting positions and internal controls in a SOX or similar compliance environment.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to operate independently, take ownership of deliverables, and influence senior stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Capable of working with minimal supervision, multi-tasking to establish priorities, and completing objectives without supervision in a fast-paced environment.</li> <li>Strong collaboration, organization, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.</li> <li>Detail-oriented with a highly analytical mindset and strong professional skepticism.</li> <li>Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical accounting concepts to both finance and non-finance audiences.</li> <li>Experience working with media and/or technology infrastructure companies is a plus.</li> </ul> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;"><strong>Annual Compensation Range:&nbsp;</strong></span></p> <p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">$130,000-$150,000 CAD base + benefits + equity</span></p> <p><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt;">Note: The salary range listed for this position is a good faith estimate based on experience, qualifications, and internal compensation structure.
