Position Summary

The Technical Director serves as the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) Nominated Postholder for Control and Direction of Maintenance, with overall responsibility for the airworthiness, safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance of BermudAir's fleet.

This role provides strategic leadership and oversight of outsourced Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) and Approved Maintenance Organisation (AMO) activities, ensuring the highest standards of maintenance, engineering performance, operational support, and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will be a highly qualified aviation professional with extensive leadership experience in aircraft maintenance and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the airline's engineering and maintenance strategy in support of corporate objectives.
• Provide oversight and management of outsourced CAMO and AMO providers.
• Lead aircraft transition projects, delivering and redelivering aircraft to lessors
• Ensure compliance with all applicable BCAA, manufacturer, and industry regulatory requirements.
• Maintain responsibility for aircraft maintenance, repairs, modifications, reliability, and airworthiness programs.
• Develop and continuously strengthen the Maintenance Control function and technical teams.
• Serve as the primary engineering liaison with regulatory authorities, aircraft manufacturers, and maintenance providers.
• Manage engineering budgets, contracts, and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency and cost effectiveness.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives, new technologies, and process enhancements.
• Provide technical guidance and recommendations to executive leadership.
• Support operational decision-making and remain available for critical engineering matters as required.
• Represent BermudAir at industry forums, regulatory meetings, and professional events.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

• Eligible to hold the BCAA Nominated Postholder position for Control and Direction of Maintenance in accordance with OTAR 119 requirements.
• Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (AMEL) or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of aircraft maintenance and engineering experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience managing outsourced maintenance and continuing airworthiness programs.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft maintenance regulations, airworthiness requirements, and industry best practices.
• Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience managing budgets, vendor relationships, and operational performance.

Preferred

• Embraer or regional jet maintenance experience.
• Experience with cabin retrofit programs, STCs, and aircraft modifications.

Additional Information

• The position is based in Bermuda; however, hybrid solutions will be considered
• Working hours may vary in line with operational requirements.
• Significant international travel will be required.
