Threat Intelligence Analyst – Gaming

Role Overview:

Role will monitor and collect threat intelligence related to cheating and malicious activities targeting the gaming ecosystems.  This role is pivotal in gathering and documenting threat data and collaborating with the team to help safeguard the player community. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

Threat Community Monitoring:

  • Monitor designated cheat forums, Discord servers, Telegram channels, Reddit communities, and GitHub repositories for relevant discussion and activity.
  • Track cheat tool releases and community announcements from known vendors.
  • Identify and log new cheat vendors and distribution channels for analyst review.

Cheat Status Tracking:

  • Maintain updated records of known cheat tools and their operational status.
  • Log vendor reactions and community complaints relating to detection events and patches.

Intelligence Documentation:

  • Input intelligence findings into structured formats, maintaining source details such as monitoring frequency and coverage.
  • Categorize findings by cheat type, affected game, and urgency for analyst triage.

Ecosystem Research Support:

  • Assist in mapping cheat ecosystems, including vendors and distribution networks based on available open-source data.

Toxic Conduct Monitoring (Basic):

  • Monitor public communities for signs of coordinated harassment or violation of player conduct guidelines, escalating relevant findings.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • 1 -2 years of experience in threat intelligence, OSINT collection, trust and safety, or related roles.
  • Experience with OSINT tools and platforms such as Discord, Telegram, Reddit, and web forums.
  • Basic understanding of game cheat ecosystems and common cheat types.
  • Ability to document and organize intelligence clearly and concisely.
  • Comfortable navigating online communities and assessing content credibility.
  • Good communication skills to prepare understandable reports.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some experience in gaming security operations or fraud investigation.
  • Familiarity with intelligence tracking tools like Jira or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of live game ecosystems and player communities.
