Remote Truck Dispatcher

Key Responsibilities

• Driver Coordination: Assign loads to drivers based on location, availability, and load requirements. Communicate with drivers to provide details about routes, pick-ups, and deliveries.
• Route Planning: Develop efficient delivery routes and schedules to maximize productivity, minimize fuel consumption, and meet customer deadlines.
• Load Management: Monitor the status of active shipments, track loads, and ensure drivers are adhering to schedules. Resolve any issues such as delays or route changes.
• Customer Communication: Maintain contact with clients to provide updates on delivery statuses, address concerns, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Problem-Solving: Handle unexpected situations such as breakdowns, accidents, or weather delays by finding quick and effective solutions.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that drivers comply with legal requirements, including hours of service regulations, vehicle inspections, and safety standards.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and shipment details. Submit reports as needed to the logistics manager or other departments.
• Technology Use: Utilize dispatch software and GPS systems to monitor vehicle locations and ensure on-time deliveries.
• Cost Optimization: Help optimize fuel usage, minimize deadhead miles, and contribute to cost-saving strategies for fleet management.
• Driver Support: Provide ongoing support and assistance to drivers on the road, helping to resolve issues and ensuring their needs are met.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Prior experience as a truck dispatcher or in a similar logistics role.
• Strong knowledge of transportation and logistics procedures.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in dispatch software, GPS, and other transportation tools.
• Familiarity with trucking regulations and hours of service laws.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and manage your workload remotely.
• Flexibility to work varying hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
