About the Job

The Junior Underwriter role will provide technical expertise in evaluating new business and renewals, providing quotes which reflect the risk profile of the account as well as the goals of the company. The successful candidate has industry experience, understands insurance and underwriting terminology and has a general understanding of the healthcare market. Prior experience in underwriting and captive arrangement a plus. An early track record of balancing creative thinking with strong business judgement and analytical skills, this role will underwrite opportunities utilizing Crumdale’s unique solutions. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manage production to guarantee the timely and accurate completion of renewals and proposals
• Evaluate renewal and new business proposals to confirm that the quoted business aligns with the Company’s objectives, goals, and solutions
• Build relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers based on trust and credibility to strengthen influence over risk management and pricing decisions
• Present strong and convincing arguments to guide Sales and external parties toward suitable risk solutions
• Increase the department’s influence by negotiating practical solutions, adhering to deadlines, and delivering responsive service
• Perform regular internal reviews to ensure rates, controls, and processes remain compliant

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of underwriting experience within employee benefits
• Basic understanding of self-funded and fully-insured markets, including the ability to interpret claim reports from various external sources
• Capability to balance sound judgment, analytical thinking, and creativity
• Strong communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with Sales and other key stakeholders to achieve successful results
• Proficienct in Excel
• Familiarity with the Ugan underwriting system and Salesforce a plus
