About the role
- Design, implement, and maintain clean, modular UI code and prefabs in Unity (UGUI).
- Work closely with UX/UI designers and product teams to bring mockups to life with smooth interactions and animations as defined by a clear GDD and spec.
- Connecting UI with gameplay, systems, and backend logic.
- Proactively optimize UI layout, responsiveness, and performance to ensure a seamless player experience.
- 5-8 years of experience in game development, with a strong focus on Unity UI.
- Deep understanding of Unity’s UI systems: UGUI, Canvas system, layout groups, anchors, and resolution scaling.
- Strong understanding of Unity’s architecture, including best practices for MonoBehaviours, ScriptableObjects, Prefabs, Prefab Variants and Addressables.
- Comfortable working in a live service environment with frequent updates and UI iteration.
- A proactive mindset and pride in taking ownership of features from start to finish.
- Can work autonomously, but communicate clearly, and collaborate with other engineers, designers and artists.
- Bilingual preferred in English and Japanese.
- Has shipped one or more live service games targeting mobile with Unity.
- Can build scalable, data-driven UI (bonus if you’ve done live-ops features like events, shops, daily rewards).
- SPINE / Unity 2D animation experience.
- Experience using Photoshop, and optimizing UI assets.
- Familiar with asynchronous server calls and handling dynamic response data in the UI.
