<p><strong>Rice Creek Animal Hospital </strong><strong>is hiring </strong><strong>full-time </strong><strong>Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist</strong> to provide skilled care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients. <p><strong>Salary: </strong>$17.00 - $19.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.</p>
<p><strong>Schedul</strong><strong>e: </strong>This is a full-time position, four days per week, 7:45 AM – 6:00 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. No weekend hours!</p>
<p><strong>Assistant Responsibilities: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.</li>
<li>Be the first point of contact: Greet clients and their pets warmly, complete the sign-in process, verify and confirm appointment details, and ensure clients feel informed and reassured.</li>
<li>Support clinical flow: Escort clients to exam rooms, assist in relaying key information between clients and clinical staff.</li>
<li>Manage client communications: Handle incoming calls for appointments, care questions, prescription refills, and more. Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-up care.</li>
<li>Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately</li>
<li>Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces</li>
<li>Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples</li>
<li>Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian</li>
<li>Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Receptionist Responsibilities: </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Greet clients and their pets, complete the appointment sign-in process, confirm appointment details, and escort clients to exam rooms.</li>
<li>Ensure accurate service and product sales accounting, handle payments, process credit/debit cards, and schedule future appointments.</li>
<li>Answer client calls for appointments, hospital inquiries, medication refills, and other requests. Make outbound calls for appointment reminders and follow-ups.</li>
<li>Understand common vaccination protocols, basic lab tests, common diseases, veterinary terminology, and pet behavior.</li>
<li>Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization to ensure a positive client experience.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary setting is required.</li>
<li>Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.</li>
<li>Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.</li>
</ul>
